There is another chicken farm only a few miles from my parents that I've gotten eggs from too.</p> <p>If I cook eggs I buy them from the store, no big deal. Because it's a lot more work to drive to a farm just for eggs. One of our local stores actually provides sanitizing wipes... but still now it eeks me out!! </p> <p>totally unrelated, moreso to your egg post: but I had learned that eggs that come straight from the farm don't carry a risk of salmonella. It's only once they're cleaned and "pasteurized" that they then become susceptible to bacteria. I guess eggs have a much thicker "shell" and by cleaning them it strips them of it's protective barrier. </p> <p>So eggs from a henhouse that are cleaned only moments before using them are actually okay to eat raw. I've dabbled in making my own homemade mayo and it uses raw eggs.
