@Pumpkin Pie: I second what Mamaof2 said with trying to nurse LO by hovering over him. Good luck! They are the worst!

@Pumpkin Pie: commiserating with you! With my DS I had them every few days for 7 months! I tried Lethicin and it didn't work for me but I would try it and see if it helps you!

The best way for me to get rid of them was to fill a pot with super hot water and put on the table - then lean over so gravity is helping and submerge your entire breast. After a min with your breast still in the water massage it downward - you can see the milk spill out into the pan. Then after 3-4 mins go nurse a hungry baby - DS was always able to pull it out this way.

Also, its super awkward but you can lay baby on the floor and hover over top of and let him nurse that way - again, using gravity as your friend!

Also , never sleep on your stomach!

@Pumpkin Pie: I know, plugged ducts are SO sore. It makes me completely miserable. Massaging does hurt alot, but once it's out it will feel better. I've gotten really bad ones where the whole top of my boob turns into a hard wedge. It takes hours of miserably massaging it to get it out.

Take 3 lecithin capsules a day and exfoliate your nipple every day to keep the pores clear. See if you have a bleb on the nipple you can open up.

It is not in the same spot all the time, but I have been getting them almost every or every other day. I don't know why. I just spent 30 mins in a hot bath with my boob submerged in hot water, and tried hand expressing. Its still there, and so painful. I tried the hot compress, hot shower, massaging ,etc. I think the massaging is actually making it hurt more.

@Pumpkin Pie: here is info I posted on another thread recently:
Like others have said, lots of massage and hot showers are great. Get a microwavable warm pack and keep the area warm as much as possible. And keep massaging. If it doesn't get better soon, you could look into PT resources in your area. There are physical therapists that do ultrasound treatment for moms with plugged duct issues.
Be careful not to sleep on that side and don't wear and shoulder or messenger bags with can put pressure on your milk ducts. And no underwire bras!
Also look into taking lecithin suppliments, it really helps some moms!

Does the clog always come back in the same spot? It might not be getting totally unclogged. I second lots of hand expressing. Or if there's a lactation consultant that does massage in your area, it might be worth checking out. Its quite painful but she does get out any hard lumps.

Massage, hot shower, drinking lots of water, heating pad/Therapearl while pumping have all helped me in the past. http://www.amazon.com/Lansinoh-TheraPearl-Breast-Therapy-Count/dp/B0070767DU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1423007644&sr=8-2&keywords=therapearl

I had one last week that got so bad I ended up with an infection and fever. What finally helped was massaging the breast before pumping/feeding, many hot compresses throughout the day and directing the shower head directly onto the clogged area. It took a few days but it finally unclogged. Good luck!

Massaging a clogged duct during nursing has always helped me. Sometimes it takes a day or two. Hope something works - I hate these!

Can you hand compress? In the shower is even better. Milk thistle is supposed to be good also. I had a painful one once and took milk thistle and never had it come back.

I get them literally every single day. It is so painful. Pumping doesn't unclog it. The only thing that has been working is nursing. But I only nurse in the middle of the night. How can I stop getting them? I currently have it under my breast, and nothing is helping to relieve. Help!
