DD2 has been sleeping on the bassinet part since she was born. She is currently 8 weeks old. Maybe I'm a worrywart but we decided to forego. Worried about SIDS. Didn't even use the quilted mattress cover I bought until she was about 4 mo old because it seemed too soft for a newborn! Babies are so light and don't know any better that a firm mattress is better. Neither seemed to mind it. It works. My daughter will now sleep in it.
