Oh, if only I could claim I didn’t know. My 6- and 4 year-old are entirely obsessed.

I would say they are generally appropriate. There are a few cards that have attacks I don’t love the sound of. My six-year-old can read them, my four-year-old can’t. But at this point it’s unavoidable. (Words like machine gun and stuff, not necessarily bad words.)

Generally they’re harmless fun and my boys love to see what cards they get in new packs. Originally, my FIL gave the boys a bunch of big starter packs, that you can use to play the games. My boys aren’t super interested in actually playing the game, they just like to collect the cards, so mostly we buy booster packs now. But I think either one is a perfectly good present. There are some packs that come with a giant card and then a few booster packs. I think they are usually about $20. That would make a nice gift.

DD has been invited to a 7th birthday party for a classmate this weekend. She says he wants Pokemon cards. I don't know anything about them. Is that an age appropriate present? Is there a certain type of pack I should get?
