I think my main concern is actually the birth defect thing. I had slightly more fluid then i should with my son but they didnt monitor or check anything. It wasn't enough to worry they thought. However my son was born with pyloric stenosis. A birth defect that can cause the extra fluid due to how the stomach works. My son needed surgery at 7 weeks old. I'm just nervous my daughter may have it this time since it can be genetic. Its probably fine. I'm not super super duper concerned. I'll just mention it to my doctor to double check maybe next appointment. My ultrasound is this coming Tuesday and my appointment is the next week

I had a lot of fluid with DS2 that was frequently mentioned during ultrasounds but there weren’t any complications. He was breech but I attribute that to a 99.8% head and not the fluid...

At my 40 week ultrasound, my amniotic fluid was really high. I wasn’t diagnosed with anything specific. They just stressed that I need to get to the hospital sooner rather than later when I went into labor because if my water broke at home it would be a gush not a trickle. (There was a small concern of cord prolapse - I think)

@Sams Mom: yeah it maybe nothing. I am measuring ahead and she did keep saying I had a ton of fluid but she may just be waiting to see how it is at this next ultrasound. My doctor doesnt like to say anything unless he knows for sure. I'm not overly worried. I was just curious. They didn't measure my fundel this time cause I had an ultrasound. So far if she doesn't go head down I'll have to have a csection anyway so who knows. I got some time to see if that's the case.

So at my 31 or 32 week auntie I went from measuring about a week ahead to 5 weeks ahead. I was sent for an ultrasound and I was confirmed polyhydraminos. Because of that I had to start going for weekly appointments with ultrasound and biophysical profiles. Basically they checked for movement, practice breathing, heart rate, fluid levels, and muscle tone. Depending on my score it determined if I went home, started for additional monitoring, was admitted, or induced/c-sectioned. I was able to stay pregnant until 39 weeks when we decided to go ahead and have a c-section for a number of reasons.

If your doctor didn't talk to you about it or seemed concerned you are more than likely ok and have nothing to worry about.

My blood pressure was fine, but I did have stints of protein in my urine. It was usually trace or +, but the morning of my c section it was ++. Everything turned out well thankfully for my son. He had a 9/9 on his apgar, and only had to be monitored for blood sugar since he was 9 lbs 8 oz.

DW did with our first son, diagnosed I think around 30/32 weeks. The midwife measured a larger fundal height of like 4 weeks ahead a few weeks in a row and referred for ultrasound which confirmed it. They didn’t advise anything else beyond that BUT he was born premature at 35 weeks after she had PPROM. I’m not sure if that had anything to do with it but maybe since there was quite a lot of extra fluid...no one ever said anything afterwards and he was totally healthy besides being only 4 lbs 13oz at birth.

I remember googling it and being a little worried but everything was fine for us and he’s perfectly healthy almost 5yo. FWIW our second son went 4 days overdue and no poly with him so it seemed totally random.

@cyoung: I think as long as you’re being monitored closely I would just keep an eye on everything at this point

@gotkimchi: really good actually. Idk why that day it was so bad. My doctor did say to check it every so often especially if I feel like I have a headache that won't go away, swelling, or dizziness.

I was looking at the screen when she was measuring and I did see the end number being like 25 or something. But idk what I was looking at lol

Just curious ladies. Have any of you had Polyhydramnios? I don't have it officially. My tech during my 4D at the doctors office keep mentioning that I had a lot of fluid for how many weeks I am (31 weeks today) she would say stuff "her foot is in the way but you have more then plenty of fluid for her to move." And a few other variations. She even checked my fluid amount. Now she never told me if they were okay. She just said "if you have too much it's called polyhydramnios" My baby is oblique and has been transverse in the past. She tends to be able to flip sides super easily. She said she couldn't get good pictures and wanted me to come back next week. (Our picture were actually pretty good so I was surprised) Now my doctor didn't say anything even though he looked at everything. Idk I guess I'm just nervous I have a bit too much fluid. She won't go head down and I feel movement but not as much with my kids. She was moving during the ultrasound and I couldn't feel it. I'm sure if I did they would tell me. I guess I'm just curious want to hear other ladies experiences and what their doctors told them.
