J does this too sometimes and it mostly happens when she's teething really bad. I can never get her back down, so I give up.

Nighttime it won't wake her, but naps? Poop ruins naps. Her current poop schedule ruins her 1x/day nap and makes her a monster/zombie later in the day, argh!

@twoofeverything: Yes! I think 1/2 the time she poops is when she doesn't fall asleep right away. She'll jump around and be fussing in the crib for awhile, and I think she'll finally be falling asleep for a couple minutes and baaam! Up and screaming - poop. This is not a fun, new development.

@Freckles: I've always nursed to nap/sleep, but this is a new thing. I'm hoping just a phase. I've also tried waiting out a poop, but it usually backlashes into past the nap time.

yuuup this has happened to us a ton in the past. Sometimes he will poop before he falls asleep, and then will scream until I go in, change him, and then he'll go down. But if he wakes up and poops, the nap is over.

R has been pooping so much lately. Day care couldn't get her down for a nap till 1215 yesterday cause she kept pooping. No way would she sleep through changing her.

When LO was younger she would wake up. If she pooped RIGHT after she went to bed, then i could probably get her back down but it would be a fight for sure.

Do you breastfeed right before putting her down for naps? I also try to give myself a 30-45 minute window from after lunch/snack time to naptime so i can catch any poops!

Yes! Ugh. Also, if she hasn't gone to sleep after 20 or so min it's usually because she pooped and we have to wait a while after changing her to put her back down.

No, besides middle of the night, if LO ever wakes up she's up for at least an hour.
ETA: but yes, she's been known to be woken up by a poopy diaper. If she wakes up after less than an hour, that's the first thing I check.

In the past couple weeks, DD has started to poop in her naps (probably about every other day). Then she wakes up and I cannot get her back to sleep. Ugh.

Does this happen to anyone else? Can your LO sleep with a poopy diaper or can you get him/her back to nap after a change? It's so weird this has suddenly started, just when we were doing well with naps again.
