I know the anti-cereal camp is pretty strong right now, but it has been good for my kids too at bedtime. We were dealing with middle of the night poops after upping their solids too. We use the happy babies brown rice cereal with pro/pre biotics, and they don't poop overnight anymore and seem fuller and happer and have no constipation issues at all.

As far as creams go, I really love angel baby bottom balm for healing it up. And then a moisture repelling cream like aquaphor/desitin to protect her skin overnight. The white creams like that really make my kids scream if I put it on a bad rash, just fyi.

@hilsy85: thanks. I think aquaphor and desitin should be enough. I just feel so guilty that she was laying in her poop for so long. She did it a few nights in a row where we hadn't applied any of the cream so that's probably why the rash showed up. We skipped oatmeal and rice cereal per our pedis rec. but maybe we should try it. The purées have made her poop pretty watery. Sorry tmi!

Aw poor L! Lo also poops at night sometimes but it hasn't caused any rash yet...I slather his butt at night with aqua phor before I put his bedtime diaper on. Also I've heard that giving oatmeal at night can help "bind" things until the morning...but I haven't true it to know if it works.

LO has been pooping at night for the past week. We just started solids seriously in the last 2 weeks, so there is a reason. However, she also started STTN 11 hours for the past week and she doesn't wake up when she poops. So when we get her in the morning, she's been laying in poop for who knows how long and developing a bad diaper rash. Last night, DH checked on her at 2:30am and she had already pooped and it was a blow out. Then she wouldn't go back to sleep so I nursed her. So i've probably messed up her STTN which is ok, but I feel terrible that she might have been laying in poop for so long the other nights and her poor butt is all red and there were some small open sores. we've now been slathering on desitin and aquaphor. I am going to buy bigger diapers today too and try that out.

Any other mamas go through this and have advice?
