Is there any way he's constipated or has a tiny tear that makes pooping (in the dry, cold air :silly: ) painful? Crazy idea...do you think a sitzbath (to encourage pooping before the tub) would help?

I always stuck K on the potty (from before 2yo) before bath to try to avoid him peeing in the tub. After a while he pretty much always went. It's worth a shot! He may have some idea that poop goes in the bathroom? You could also try this book which K loves!

My son is a tub (and shower) pooper. I have no idea why he does it, other than the fact that he's relaxed. He knows it's gross and immediately wants it cleaned up. We're not anywhere close to #2 toilet trained ( getting close for #1), so I know he just doesn't realize it's happening until it's over. I'm sure it'll stop eventually.

In the meantime, I just keep Clorox cleanup on hand so I can immediate start sanitizing. I usually throw any toys into the sink and soak in bleach water, as well.

@Mrs Green Grass: Your autocorrects are cracking me up-- popping and looping? Both sound more fun than what you really mean. :)

But yeah I don't know. I opened this because C pooped in the tub this morning for the first time since she was teeny (15 months old now). It was gross. And for the record, I was right there watching her, actually washing her face when I looked down and saw it, so I don't really think it's happening because you are doing something else.

For us, I know C usually poops a few times in the morning but not very often at night, so I'm just going to stick with evening baths. I was lazy last night so we did the bath this morning and that's when it happened. As for cleaning, we may have gone overboard but I gave the naked baby to DH and cleaned the poop out then sprayed the whole thing with lots of scrubby bubbles, then didn't want to put her in the tub that probably still had lots of bleach in it so I showered in the other bathroom with her.

Does he drink any water when he gets in? Someone told me a lot of babies poop in the tub because if they drink a bit of the warm tub water it makes them poop!

Dylan is 2 (but his due date was in Jan, so that'll be more like "real 2") and he's only recently started looping in the tub, like the last 2 months. So far it's happened about 6 times and it's almost always right when I put him in.

He will repeat dirty, icky and toilet while I clean it up (and put it in the toilet to flush) but it definitely doesn't stop it from happening.

I know that I'm usually doing something else in the bathroom while it happens, so in not watching him closely.

Should we get on the potty before each bath? I know pooping is the hardest part or potty training...

Also, how should I be cleaning the tub after? I'm paranoid that I'm not doing it well enough.
