@Skipra: Totally with you on the bowl issue . . . we have two different sized bowls, and I usually use the small ones for me. Even if I fill it up twice, it still comes out to less food than if I had filled up a large bowl.

@sslm: I've always wanted to try it! But I've always turned away from it because of the cost!

@MrsBrewer: yes! I love it. Obviously I'd rather just eat whatever I want and still lose weight, but since that's not an option, WW is the next best thing. Haha.

@skipra: we have smaller tupperware containers that I could definitely use! I actually did that this morning because all of our regular bowls were in the dishwasher! I might have to keep that up!

@MrsBrewer: If your bowls are too large you can always use a mug instead! Or maybe small tupperware? And like mamamoose said, if you are still hungry you can refill. You are less like to refill than to eat the too large portion you initially serve yourself.

@skipra: Good idea about the large and small plates! I wish we had 2 size bowls. Our bowls in our set are huuuge!

Weight Watchers will teach you loads and loads about portion control. And that's basically it. Enjoy whatever you want to eat, but if you want to lose/maintain weight, you've gotta watch your portion sizes.

My husband eats off our large dinner plates and I always eat off the small plates. Also, we have two different size bowls and I use the smaller ones or even a small mug. Pack less food when you go to work - if it's not there, you can't eat it!

I measure! Especially things like rice and pasta. It really puts things in perspective and guarantees I only have one serving. Tonight we're having burgers and slaw. Cold slaw is 4 points on weight watchers for 1/2 cup. I'll be getting out my measuring cup :)

Whenever we eat at home I always put about half as much on my plate as I do on my husbands. I just tell myself, it's not like it's going anywhere. If I'm still hungry after I finish I can get a little more. But it stops me from continuing to eat after I'm full just because it's sitting right in front of me. (PS This was pre baby. Now I try to fill up my plate because I'm 18 weeks pregnany and still haven't gained any weight so I'm trying to up my intake on the days that I'm not sick to my stomach).

I've finally come to terms as to why all of my dieting attempts have failed in the past. I have absolutely no portion control. If there is food in front of me or on my plate I will eat it all. I think I get this from my husband. I love him to death, but he eats so much and soooo fast! So I feel like I need to eat just as much/as fast as him! I know that's completely unrealistic, but I think that's how my brain it. I mean now even at work for lunches, I've noticed that I am bringing more becuase I'm used to packing my husband's lunches :-(

How do you control your portions? Any thing that might help!
