We have the older child in a convertible booster on the drivers side. The younger one is in a convertible rear facing on the passenger side. We don't have latches for the middle seat so we couldn't put a car seat there. The middle seat can only fit a small person though.

@volksgirl64: I'm not sure if I love it ! ha. I just find there isn't as much space as we originally thought. It's a pretty car, but we've been having major issues with it (seems to always have a problem) I'd sell it if we weren't so under the water with it.

@blushink: We have a CX-7 too, love it!

We have DD1 behind the passenger now and LO behind the driver. I think we may switch them though because DH wants to recline the drivers seat a little more and the infant carrier won't allow it.

Not sure how we're going to do this. DD is currently FF in a convertible behind the driver. Thinking of moving her to middle and then putting infant seat behind driver; however DH is tall and has to have the seat back all the way so we may have to experiment or have different configurations for each car. I would like to have them side by side but may end up putting one behind passenger and one behind driver; but since you can't get in the car on the passenger side when parked in our garage that may be an issue. We have a larger sedan with LATCH on only the two outer positions.

@looch: I thought that the middle seat was the safest place for a car seat. I was taught that at the hospital and DMV where I had my car seat properly installed.

@mrs. wagon: not really. Unless they are tiny.
But we might have "big" pieces. We gave a Eddie Bauer car seat for Mavrick and the chicco discovery shell. Honestly I can't wait to have NO MORE car seats. Haha.

If you want someone else to sit in the back, then I agree with bucket in the outboard, convertible in the middle. I've heard it's safest to put a seat behind the driver as opposed to a passenger because in an accident, the driver will try to protect their side of the car, but our convertible is on the passenger side, so just another thing to consider!

Yin: the middle is better for a convertible, the infant bucket is more protective than a convertible and the logic is that the least protected seat go in the middle.

I just assumed that there wasn't enough room for an infant car seat and convertible next to each other. Of course I'm wrong and saw an infant car seat in the middle with a convertible facing forward behind the passenger. This was in a sedan too! I was amazed and plan on doing the same in the future.

@blushink: we're hoping to leave enough room for a passenger to sit as well... is there space in the middle for someone to sit?

@looch: I believe we have LATCH on all 3 positions.. 2, at least!

Do you have LATCH in all positions in your car, or just the outboard positions? I'd just plop everyone in a LATCH install spot, rather than deal with the belt, but that's just me!!!

We originally has Mavrick behind me (passenger) and Sienna behind DH but the carrier takes much more space so we switched. There isn't much space I find to put one of the kids in the middle.

We have a Mazda CX-7

So we've got Wagon Jr., 2.5 and 33 lbs, forward facing in a convertible (Britax Marathon). We've got Lil Miss Wagon coming soon, who will be in a Graco Snugride rear facing. Should we shift Wagon Jr. to the middle of the backseat and put Lil Miss Wagon on the passenger side? I'm thinking that with the way the seats are, she might have to go on the driver's side. We have a 2011 Honda CR-V.
