I find that some people take to it without a problem and others struggle with it regardless of how much instruction they get on how to care for it properly. </p> <p>It's a body identity crisis, and since we were infants our poo came out of our bottoms - now we're asking people to change the mindset that they've been in for all of their lives and be okay with pooing in a bag. There are many young men and women who live full, fulfilling lives with a colostomy - but I wouldn't doubt that they struggled at some point with the very idea of what was happening to their bodies. </p> <p>I hope the inflammation stays away so he doesn't need to have the colostomy placed again. Crohn's really sucks; I can't even begin to imagine. All your positive thoughts worked- DH's surgery went well! It took longer than they thought it would because he had gained some weight and they had to get around all the fat.... ooops! We'll be started a diet together soon :) Most importantly for him the colostomy is finally gone. I'm sure he'll be excited once he finally realizes... I told him about 4 times today but he just kept asking me what the doctor said over and over, so I'm 100% sure he still has no clue.
