@LovelyPlum: Same as you. 25 mg for 5 days, then up to 50 mg. I really hope so, the panic attacks are so debilitating.

@T-Mom: Thank you for sharing! Thats what I feel like I need. Just something to help calm me so I can heal and learn to cope better.

@DigAPony: Thats what Im hoping for! The constant anxiety and then attacks are so debilitating.

@citymouse: waiting is incredibly hard! But it's good to know you're being proactive. I sometimes still get a little panicky, but it's nowhere near as bad as it was, and I'm able to be more rational and calm myself down faster. Good luck to you!

@citymouse: it worked great for me. I took it for a year for PPD. I was on a very low dose and it really took the edge off. I hope it works for you!

@citymouse: it is daunting, I agree. But the good news is that even though it may take a few days, every day it is getting a little bit better, even if you don't notice right away. Did you start with a lower dose? My doctor prescribed me 50 mg, but I had to start with 25 mg for a week first, to get used to it. I was told it can take up to two weeks to take full effect, but I noticed a difference within a week, and it got better from there. This time, I noticed a difference within 3-4 days.

For me, even knowing that I had taken a step in the right direction was a HUGE weight off of my shoulders. It was such a relief to know that I wasn't broken, that I wasn't making it all up, that it wasn't in my head, and that I was doing something to help.

Yes, be gentle. And I'm so glad you're looking forward to being better! That was a big step for me-knowing you want to feel good, that you DESERVE to feel good, was a sign that things were going up, not down :)

@SeptMomma12: Not to threadjack and maybe you can wall me, but how did the transition from Celexa to Zoloft go? I need to switch from Paxil to Zoloft before we TTC and I'm terrified of the withdrawal and adjustment symptoms.

@citymouse: Not Zoloft, but general experience with SSRIs, it DOES get better, so don't give up! I've generally found that the first 2 weeks are the hardest, so take it one day at a time and one day you'll be thinking about how great you feel instead of how terrible you feel. Hang in there!

I started taking zoloft in November, when LO was about a week old, because I was having major anxiety issues. It took about a week for me to feel a lot better, but I noticed a difference 2-3 days after starting it.

My anxiety centered around being very sad and depressed over LO growing up. I would think about him getting older, going to school, then becoming a teenager, etc and I would have emotional breakdowns. Last week, I put away his 0-3 month clothes and brought out his bigger stuff and I didn't cry (huge deal because even the thought of that brought me to tears before).

Hugs!!!

@DigAPony: Thats one of the hard parts, knowing I need to wait a bit. Waiting doesn't make the anxiety any better! Do you still experience panic attacks?

I started taking Zoloft in January about 2 months PP. My anxiety has definitely decreased since starting it. Hang in there! Don't forget that it can take up to a month for it to build up in your system and take effect, so give it time.

I have had very positive experiences with it in the past and would take it again in the future if necessary. I didn't take it for PPD, but it was mostly for anxiety and it helped with that a ton. I hope it helps!

First, hugs, Mama, and good for you for getting help.

I went on Zoloft in May, after my losses triggered previous depression issues and new anxiety. I am not exaggerating when I say that it completely changed my life. It took a week or so, but eventually, things just felt less difficult. I felt like I could be a normal person, go out of my house, and do something other than cry all the time. I tried to wean off of it at the beginning of my third tri, but I foundthat I still needed it. So, I'm back on, and that, too, was a fantastic decision.

For me,there wasn't a moment where I suddenly said, this is working! Rather, after a few days, I looked back and realized that I hadn't been sad all day, or that I hadnt cried in a week, or that something made me laugh. That was enough to give me hope while waiting for it to kick in. And there started to be more good moments than less.

Hang in there. You did a really, really brave thing by reaching out. Feel free to wall me if you have more questions!

I don't have much Zoloft experience to share, but I also just started Zoloft, about two weeks ago. My situation is a bit different since I switched to Zoloft from another medication (Celexa) that I had been on for years, but I can tell you from that experience (and my own PPD history) that yes, it gets SO much better. It takes some time for the medication, and therapy, to kick in but you can - and will - feel better. Just try to take it a day at a time. How old is your LO? I found that my PPD also got remarkably better once he hit 3 months and we started to get into more of a routine. Hang in there mama:)

Anyone care to share?

I just started a low dose of Zoloft for PPD/PPA and am in that waiting period to see how its helping or not helping. Reading positive stories and encouraging ones have been helpful when I feel an anxiety attack coming on. Id love to hear that its going to get better! I start therapy this week as well which I know will help.
