I have been pumping at work for a month now and it is going much better than I thought it would.
@CakeLady: I can't believe the organization it takes.. every morning I run thru my list before walking out the door.. pump, bottles, ice pack, cooler, valves, sheilds, towel. I keep soap and a sponge at my desk so I can wash in the bathroom.
I do like the 3 breaks a day usually when I'm not stressed about getting back to something at my desk. but they break up my day. I get in at 9 and pump at 10 so the first hour goes quick. then 1:00 pump and lunch. Then 4:00 and the day is almost over because I leave at 5. So I have fallen into a good routine.
It is nice to read a positive article on it though because it can be daunting.

I pump at my desk (have an office), so I work while pumping and it's not much of a break. I can't wait to quit. At this point I am getting about 1 oz for a 20 minutes session (since getting pregnant). I don't know that I will ever be nostalgic for it. But I am happy that I am able to provide LO with exclusively BM for so long and will likely make it to the year mark.

@CakeLady: gah, the organization! Yes, that is hard. I'm glad it is going well, though! I found it got easier after the first week, so hopei you will, too.

Crazy pumping story of the week: I got off the bus on Monday to realize I didn't have my pump  Cue panic. Thank goodness I only left it under my desk ( the security guards looked for me), but OMG, I was panicking. I lost 15 ounces, but at least I didn't lose a $400 pump!!

@LovelyPlum: no better time to reply - it's pumpy time! Things are going better than I thought, work has been really really busy so it is a good distraction from being away from the baby, though it makes fitting in 3 pumping sessions a day a challenge. I spend the whole day lugging around my bag of pumping stuff incase meetings get moved/run late. But I seem to be making enough milk for E. So I can't really complain. I can't believe how much organization it takes though!

Thank you for this! It is rewarding to see what I've done at the end of the day. I'm also proud of myself for figuring.it out. I had a hard time at first, but it is easier now.

Needed this today as I'm groaning about pumping! The break is nice although usually I'm still working. Sometimes I use it to catch up on social media or even rest my eyes, though. As annoying as it can be I do love the fact that I alone have provided this essential basic necessity of life for my baby for 6 months and counting!!

On day three of pumping at work, it's nice to hear a positive spin on the experience, especially since I'm not loving it. Definitely not a break for me though... I take my laptop with me and try and get some work done. The quiet it nice though.

The forced break is great, sometimes I look forward to it as a break in an otherwise monotonous day if I don't have any other meetings going on that day.
It's a chance to go walk around a bit since my pumping office is a floor below my working office.

Loved this! I quit pumping about a month ago and there are certain things I miss. I agree with the quiet time/break. I hated washing pump parts, but I enjoyed the time I spent actually pumping. It also made me really thankful to work for such a great employer...I know some moms have less than ideal conditions in which they pump.

I totally agree with this: "I miss the reading time." I miss that soooooo much. I read so many books while pumping and now I just don't have the time!
