The way they induced me was putting a tablet that usually treats high blood pressure on my cervix. That would cause me to start cramping. They continued doing it every 4 hours. It took 3 doses to get me ready to deliver. My water broke on it's own and my cervix was opening and softening. I remember thinking these are contratctions I'm feeling and then it was time to push. I didn't have to dialate to 10 cm because the baby wasn't that big, but I still had to dialate some. The whole process took less than 11 hours to complete. there are some women that would take days to progress as far I did. It did take a lot of the fears I had about labor away. We named her Susan Patricia, after both of our mothers. We were asked if we want to name the baby and my husband said that we had lists of boys and girls name and I was hesitant to use one that we had picked out--if that makes sense. I wanted the name to be meaningful, but we were not going to decide the name until we met the baby.
