@jhd: So that's the problem. We don't know which one we would want to call him. We would call him which ever his first name is. We just don't know which one we like better.

I'd name him the same name, but with a different nickname. So if the dad is Ed, baby is Teddy..

I just don't love swapping the parent's names for the child. I can't really explain why but it doesn't make sense to me. If you want to honor the dad and/or grandpa and dad is already a junior, why wouldn't you just continue that?

My brother was named the reverse of my dads name and I always thought it was cool.

If you go with your OH’s name do you have a plan for what you would call him? I ask because my friend still struggles with a way to differentiate her son from her dad because the nickname is already taken by other family members and she still always has to say “baby j” or “big j”.

I like both names. For me it would depend on what you plan to call LO. I know lots of people do this so I’m not trying to offend, but I think it’s confusing to name someone something but then call them by the middle name.

We don't know if this LO will be a boy or girl yet, but if it is a boy, we have already narrowed it down to two names. One is OH's name (he is a junior, so LO woukd be a third), the other is his name reversed. I am a big fan of OH's name (it would be a top name even if it weren't his) but not sure how I feel about the post nominal. What do you think?
