I was freaking out when I lost my hair... right around the hairline, and before my brother's wedding. I was 3 months PP. It was terrible. It's grown back now, but just barely.

Mine started falling out around 5 months PP. It lasted about 6 weeks or so, and then thankfully stopped.

I am going on a good 4-6 weeks of really bad hair loss. It helps to comb through it in the shower and get as much dead stuff out as I can so I don't walk around with clumps of hair on my back.

I heard about this. My hair is very thick and lustrous now so I wont be surprised is a lot of it falls out.

I just hit 12 weeks PP, and literally last week it started falling out. Probably more like it used to prior to pregnancy, but it stopped falling out while I was pregnant. My hair got so thick and I loved it, but it's heading back to where it was before baby. I take prenatals still, but it's still falling out.

Mine did this for awhile. Now at 6 months its a lot less. I have wild thick hair though so it wasnt bad to lose a little.

YES! I have the same problem, and honestly I didn't think it would be this bad! My hair grew lush and beautiful when I was preggo, and now 4 months pp it plugs up the drain immediately! I've been regular with my Vitamins and still lose hair. Dr said its due to the changes in estrogen levels that u had when u were pregnant and now that you're not. I gave in and chopped it all off just so it would be more manageable.

My hair fell out so bad that within minutes of getting in the tub, the drain was plugged and I was standing in a couple inches of water. I pulled HAND FULLS out. I actually asked my dr because it scared me so bad, but she said it was completely normal and to not worry about it. I never went bald either FYI :)

Prenatals really help. You can't stop the hair shedding (it's actually not falling out and you won't go bald) the extra hair that you grew while pregnant. Cutting it won't help anything since it's the roots that are shedding the hair. It's not like you're getting horrid spit ends or something.

Be good to your hair, don't brush it when it's wet, use a good conditioner, don't use cheap hair elastics and take vitamins :)

@mediagirl- yes, my hair was never really flowy and full like I was hoping for (lol) but I definitely noticed that I rarely shed any hair while I was pregnant. I still take my pre-natals (because I'm nursing) so I thought that would buy me some timebefore it started falling out- nope!

I have really long hair so I'm constantly picking up and vacuuming hair off the floor. -.- I don't think it's falling out more than it did before my baby though.

@BabyLove: @mekarual: Did your hair stop falling out as much when you were pregnant? I think what happens is our hair stops falling out when we're pregnant and then we have too much of it after pregnancy. Unfortunately, it seems like it's all falling out at once when it does come out b/c it doesn't just come out slowly. I'm so nervous about this happening because I'm just like you two - thin hair to begin with!

@LivsMama: Thanks for the suggestion, I'll do some research on that! I'm still taking my prenatals, I will have to look into vitamin D as well.

I didnt lose any. I take 6000 IUs of Vitamin D, 2 prenatals, and choline every day, and Im convinced its from the Vitamin D and prenatals. My hair also STOPPED growing during pregnancy. It was so weird. I had to shave my legs/bikini line/armpits like every 3 weeks, and that was just to remove a little stubble. I dont get it. I also read a blog post by someone a long long time ago who SWEARS by using Redken Extremé Anti-Snap leave-in treatment.

Same here! It's horrible. I remember people telling me to expect this, but no one gave me any tips on how to avoid it. My hair is thin too, I don't have much to spare! Hopefully someone can offer some advice.

I am now 3 months post partum, and about a week ago my hair starting falling out at a fairly alarming rate. It's already thin, and I'm scared of getting bald spots.

Anyone experienced a lot of hair loss post partum? Anything I can do to keep it from falling out? Should I just cave in and get a short "Mom" haircut?
