I'd totally recommend the diet prescribed for women with Gestational Diabetes! Cut out added sugars, reduce or eliminate simple / white carbs, eat plenty of low GI / complex / whole grain carbs, eat more protein and eat every two hours to keep blood sugar stable.

I lost weight in my third trimester when I had GD and I think you could successfully lose weight by following the diet even if you weren't as strict.

@Mommygrace I'm 2 wks PP and interested too. I think my downfall is going to be my middle of the night eating! I'm up with LO so much during the night and I'm always starving when I get up... and I usually want to eat crappy stuff, like a whole box of graham crackers. Haha. I'm not exercising yet but just trying to be a bit more mindful about what I'm eating.

I am only 8 weeks postpartum but I have had some early success tracking my food intake in my fitness pal and tracking activity with my Fitbit. For exercise, I started with walking and increased my speed over time and am now doing some Jillian DVDs too. No supply issues so far--I try to make sure to keep my water intake up!

I had great success with Weight Watchers while nursing too! I started at about 4 mo PP. Everything is online and easy to track the points, and I never felt deprived.

@mommygrace: I used WW, there are extra points you can build in specifically for nursing, and in my experience, it was enough to keep my supply while also giving me a 1-2lb loss each week!

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could recommend a post Partum safe weight loss/exercise plan that worked for you while nursing. I want to be sure to keep my calories up to feed my baby while slowly lose weight at the same time. I do best when I have structure. Thanks ladies!
