we had to vacuum our DS because his heartbeat was decelerating (later to find out because he had a cord around his neck) otherwise, my doctor said we would have had pushed him out without any assistance.

@Mrs. Bee: that is a big baby for a little person! :) I'm little too (5'3" and petite) and my baby was 8lbs 2.9oz - not to mention 21.5"!, out of all my friends I only have one that has had a bigger baby, lol

@mediagirl: same! never once felt a contraction in the front, it was all back pain.

I had an OP baby. No forceps, no episiotomy, but yes yes to epidural. I loved my epidural! She was a 3 push baby, but she was teeny tiny, so I'm sure that helped infinitely!

charlie was posterior. i pushed for 3 hours with not enough progress to even use vaccum/forceps so i ended up getting a c-section. he was 8 lb 6oz, which is a pretty big baby for a little person like me!

I wasn't told that she was posterior but I had horrible back labor. I never once felt a contraction up front, it was all in my back and I felt like I had to poop the whole time. Being able to push was such sweet relief. Pushing for almost 2 hours was no fun but they used a vacuum and pulled that little girl right out. :-)

@rachiecakes: It was in early labor that we got her totally turned. My MW used a rebozo which is like a shawl/wrap that you lay on (it horizontal & you vertical like a + sign) and then she kind of "rolled" me by lifting one side and then the other. It was pretty awesome how Penelope lined up so straight as she did it!

My MW told me about a mom that had a very uncooperative lo that would NOT stop turning and after pushing for a looooong time & not being able to get him off her pelvic bone b/c of him turning she said that after talking it through with the momma she actually grabbed his head in the position it needed to be in AS she pushed! She said that the little boy is STILL like that... just doesn't stay still. lol

I delivered #1 posterior on my own no forceps or vacuum. I thought I was pushing forever but I guess it was an hour, not too bad. Back labor was no fun though!

@runsyellowlites: whoa so cool you were able to move her! I was on my side, bent over, on the floor and nothing. Even when he was vacuumed out the doctor said she was rotating him and he kept flipping his head back up and under my pubic bone. He was even born with a little bruise on his browbone, lol

DD had been flipping posterior/anterior for weeks leading up to labor. I spent ALOT of time on my hands and knees and when I went into labor every contraction that even STARTED to feel like it was going to my back I was back to letting my belly hang. We also used a rebozo in labor to get her fully turned anterior and down the middle of my belly. Everything picked up pretty good after getting her repositioned & I was able to easily push her out lying on my side.

@rachiecakes: AWESOME job pushing DS out brow presentation! You don't see that one a whole lot.

@Mrsdaredevil: Pushing for an hour still isn't baby for a ftm ESPECIALLY with malpresentation! *thumbs up* =)

@Mrsdaredevil: not sure, I've been doing the exercises for months (DS is 7 months now). it's not as bad as it was but I can still feel my guts down the middle and it hurts if I have DS stand or sit on my belly.

@rachiecakes: that is so awesome you stuck to your guns. Recovering from a c section is much worse when you need to recover from a day of labor too!

@Mrsdaredevil: also - did you have muscle separation? I had tight abs, too, and was told that's why I have muscle separation. I can still feel a ridge down the middle of the muscle when I flex my abs.

@Mrsdaredevil: that's funny - and awesome! my doctor didn't think I'd be able to push him out because he was also brow presentation but I was like, 'I've been in labor all day, no csection for me, I WILL push him out'. I needed some help but he came out, haha

None of the above!

I had a posterior birth and delivered her with no forceps, vacuum, or episiotomy!! I had back labor too....it was horrible.

My DR. was convinced I was only going to push for 10 minutes when LO came because I had tight abs throughout my whole pregnancy and she thought that would make me an excellent pusher. Anyway, when it came time to push we realized LO was posterior, so I ended up having to push for an hour.

I must have still been somewhat of a good pusher though, because I didn't need any help getting her out!

Anyone else have a posterior birth?

DS was posterior with brow presentation. They tried to turn him but no go. I had back labor almost immediately after my water broke. I got an epidural at 6cms as they were going to turn him. They called csection but I stuck to my guns and had a vaginal birth with the help of the vacuum and an episiotomy.

If you had a posterior baby, what happened? Did he/she turn?

I'm curious :)
