@coopsmama: they didn't day she has upper lip tie and we have been to ENT and pedi twice each already...

@Maysprout: yeah same here so that's why I'm not sure; they said it would only be like a milimeter that they would cut

@hilsy85: the ENT is specialized in pediatric so I do trust him.. It's just so hard to make a decision cuz it's supposedly so marginal and I don't know if it will help with BF for sure or not

@Mae: Ties can affect so many things outside of breastfeeding - speech, teeth alignment, jaw issues, headaches, gap in front teeth, etc. I'm sure it was worth it for your LO even though you no longer BF. :) We had DD done but didn't have DS done and at 18 months I really regret that we didn't.

We had her PTT and ULT laser clipped when she was 5 weeks old. I did feel it helped breastfeeding, but I think we were sort of too far gone to fully recover at that point. I sort of regret doing it because ultimately breastfeeding did not work out for us and I feel like we put her through getting it done for nothing. But I know we're in the minority on that.

I'd do it and also have her checked for a lip tie. I never got LOs lip tie clipped and I greatly regretted it. BFing was always painful and my supply was never great...I think that had a lot to do with it.

I would do it! And have her checked for a tongue tie. I would make sure you are seeing an ENT who has a lot of experience with this, as it makes a difference--we saw one who did a crappy job on LO's TT, and it made things take much longer to get better.

My lo has this and I noticed it was more difficult nursing her than my first lo. But no one was eager to correct it so we didn't. We adjusted after a bit and she's still nursing at 13 months. Her ptt isn't terrible though, for her ult I sometimes had to pop her upper lip out for her to nurse but that was just when she was tiny

Yes, DD1 had one and it was corrected with laser, along with her upper lip tie. It made a world of difference. Pretty much every time there is a PTT, an ULT is also present, and also needs to be revised for you to notice a change.

We had both lip and tongue done on DD2 and it was worth it. She had hers done with a laser though so I don't know how much was clipped.
We still struggled with nursing for a while and I pumped a lot but we are exclusively back on the breast now at 9 months.

We had it done for our DD, along with an upper lip tie. Did your LO have an upper lip tie as well?

After we had those corrected, DD's nursing was a lot better. It was totally worth it!

Did your LO have one and did you have it corrected?

We already had a bit of it clipped and the ENT said that he can do it a little more but it'd be like millimeters.

I am having issues w/ BF, I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to get that millimeter clipped too or not!
