@artbee you'd be surprised!!! i wouldn't want a pic of my kid floating around on some teenager's instagram.

@lydg: wow. You would think they'd have rules in a preschool. I feel like now a days parents have to sign papers for permission to have photographs of their kids taken at all.... let alone to be used on facebook!

I think about this a lot. I don't want my baby to be googleable from the time they are born. I'll share a pic or two here (with no name) because it's anonymous. I'm concerned about FB. My family is the type to repost my pictures or post a ton without my permission, and I don't want that.

I'm not planning on being cautious about sharing my LO's photos. I don't really see a big risk with doing so, even if my friends share with their friends. My brother and sister-in-law always make sure not to use their boy's names in the pictures, they just use their first initial so the caption would be "J &H going for a walk" or something like that. I'm probably make sure the meta/GPS tagging is off on my camera, but that's about it.

We're having the same problem with a family member, as well!

I try to limit the amount of photos I post, even on HelloBee. I have my Facebook settings very secure, and only a limited amount of people can see the few photos of LO that I do have posted. I didn't have these security measures in place at first, and I remember when LO was born someone shared a photo of her on their page, and their friend (who I didn't know) shared it as well. I thought that was really creepy!

I can think of two people at the top of my head whose children's photos were stolen off the internet, and online profiles opened posing at that family -- on instagram and Facebook. That's SO creepy to me, and part of the reason why I limited photo sharing.

@mamabehr that is exactly the reason why I try not to post a lot! My sil is crazy and reposted tons of pics of LO, and posted tons of pics of me in hospital right after I had lo...DH was pissed and made her take them down. Just personally, I would never post such personal things without asking first!

@artbee I have a friend who is a preschool teacher and the same way. So inappropriate! I teach mS but if I posted pics of kids without their consent first I could lose my job.

I am battling this right now. I have a blog that I've kept up pretty regularly throughout pregnancy; and use FB as my photo-sharing app with friends/family that are far away... but also don't like the idea of people sharing my photos, etc.

I will probably share photos, but limit it to a minimum.

@MamaBehr: I have a friend who is a nanny and she posts pictures of the kids she nannies for on facebook. I always wonder if the parents know about it and it and it really weirds me out because honestly I doubt they do.... she's one of those people who just don't understand boundaries like that. Not ok!

I try to limit the amount of pictures I have on the internet of my LOs. When DD was born, I would take a picture down as I put a new picture up. Partly because, I wanted to keep some of that private, and partly because family members (mostly my DH's family members) would RE-post my pictures. I have very strict privacy settings on my FB, but when people repost my pictures, I don't know who is seeing my babies. I don't like that.
I currently have an issue of a babysitter, who is hopefully not going to be a our babysitter once I find a replacement, that posts pictures of both my kiddos, WITHOUT ASKING! Currently her FB profile picture is of her and my son. ugh. I don't know how to go about asking her to take it and all the pictures down.

So, long story short, I agree with you about not posting many, if any, pictures. And, if I could defriend some of my DH's family on FB, I would.

I put pictures of LO online. Especially on facebook. I think it's a great way for my out of town family and friends to be able to keep up with her growing up.

I think it's kind of silly to not put pictures. I mean, if you give out very little personal info, ..what is someone going to do with a picture of a baby? They can't come kidnap them or anything! My rule is that if you put things on the internet, make sure it isn't something you would be upset if everyone saw. So pictures of you doing a kegstand? Probably not the best pic, but pictures of LO who strangers in the store see everyday, sure why not?

That being said, when LO is here I will def. put pictures of them on the internet!

Do you avoid posting pics of LO on the Internet? There is currently some family drama because I won't add my mom as a friend on Facebook & she is mad because she thinks I post pics of LO on my account and she isn't getting those pictures! When in reality I try not to post pics of LO on the Internet at all. It's so ridiculous I'm thinking about deleting my account altogether.
