This is so me right now too! I’ve been snacking on babybel cheese, rice crackers, fruit. My husband suggests a meal and I think it sounds terrible. I wonder why?! Hormones maybe?? I don’t remember this with my other two 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Mama Bird: I’m not but that’s good to know if I take it later for my milk supply.

@MrsSCB: I had one for lunch and it was great actually. My milk just came in so I’m hoping I’ll be starving soon.

@foodiebee: solidarity. I imagine it’s doubly frustrating for you based on your username

This is me right now, 3 weeks postpartum. I have no appetite and basically force myself to eat throughout the day. Cheese sticks, almond crackers, yogurt with granola, bananas and fruit have been my go-tos. It's so annoying. I'm right there with you.

This happened to me immediately after both my babies. But within a few weeks my appetite becomes insatiable due to breastfeeding 😂 Anyway, I totally agree with smoothies! You can pack a lot of calories and protein in there. I’m currently drinking one, haha. Banana, plain Greek yogurt, skim milk, tbsp cocoa powder, tbsp peanut butter, collagen protein powder. So good, like a chocolate shake! I also sometimes add spinach.

Are you taking fenugreek, or anything else that can affect blood sugar? I lost my appetite while taking fenugreek - it came back slowly two weeks after I stopped taking it.

@nwm: DH is getting me a smoothie for lunch. Good call on making them in batches, I think I’ll do that next week when he goes back to work.

@paigeface: I’m glad it’s not just me, it’s so frustrating. We’ve had a couple wonderful people drop off meals too, and I can’t stomach any of them.

Yes! I just had my second c-section 7 weeks ago and this was me! I didn't feel like eating at all and had ZERO appetite. 7 weeks later and I still don't feel like my stomach is back to normal and I skip meals completely. I agree on the smoothies as it was the only thing I could really eat/drink that sounded appealing. Soups are also a good idea as well. I did breakfast for a few dinners as it was one of the only other things that sounded good (scrambled egg and toast.) Congrats on your new baby!

i was actually coming here to suggest a smoothie as well! you can put in good fruits and yogurt and even granola and it becomes a full meal! i'm not sure i fully had this but have definitely had to work after both births to make sure i'm eating enough healthy food because i'm otherwise just so stressed and unhappy and am not motivated to eat anything besides, like, occasional brownies. last time i tried to make a big batch of fruit smoothie and then would drink some every time i knew i needed to eat but didn't have the energy to put together anything else.

congrats on the arrival of your little one!

@LCTBQE: thanks for the tips. A smoothie is actually a really good idea and sounds way more appealing than real food right now. I know it’ll pass I’m just eager to start feeling normal again.

@LadyDi: not immediately pp for me, but I lose my appetite with stress, depression, and after weaning--just weaned my second baby last week, my job is shit these days and I think I'm having weaning blues, so food is tough right now. I'm getting through the day by eating pieces of cheese and dark chocolate with fruit--I think the fat and cholesterol *really* helps sustain, and it doesn't feel greasy and gross to eat. also doing triscuits and smoothies. my other go-to when I just don't want anything is soups made with heavy whipping cream, like chowders or creamy tomato--again, it's the fat that really helps, and you don't have to have very much to fill up for a while. A handful of cashews or a few spoonfuls of cottage cheese help with protein. It's a weird problem, but it'll pass. And congratulations on the baby :)

I just had my 3rd boy via c section 5 days ago and I have zero appetite. This happened after my first two (also c sections) but it seems particularly bad this time. It’s hard for me to make myself eat anything so I’ve been sticking to soup, fruits and trying to snack on small things through the day since I can’t handle a full meal. I’m on pain meds from the surgery though and taking them on an empty stomach makes me feel terrible. I know it’ll pass eventually, but has anyone else experienced this? I’m so frustrated.
