I had this the first weeks pp. my MW said because the weight of the baby was gone the sensation of knowing when the bladder is full takes a while. If it continues after go see a pelvic floor specialist! I waited too long (6m pp) and it's getting better but I was doing the kegels wrong!! This is very common I guess.

@MamaMoose: because of the running water, I was wondering if it is similar to that prank where you put a sleeping kid's hand in hot and cold water, take the kid pee (I have no experience with this prank)

I peed myself twice in the first couple weeks post partum. I remember once was day four because the nurse that taught my postpartum care class said "everyone cries on day 4." And I burst into tears when I peed myself. Go easy on yourself for a while - I rocked the Depends for a few weeks pp.

I have always had issues with the need to pee, but only ever pee'd myself during the last trimester when ever I sneezed. Which is all the time because of my allergy's. 7 months pp I do have one hell of a time keeping a tampon in. I cough or sneeze the fucking thing shoots out like a rocket.

Totally normal! This happened to me in the middle of the night once- I put LO down after a feeding, thought I might have to pee, and before I knew it...I peed my pants. DH made fun of me, but then the next night, half asleep, he peed all over his pyjamas...so there.

@Myicitygirl: As pps have said, it's early days and you may very well see vast improvements. But it you *don't*, don't feel shy making an appt with your doctor to discuss it. It's not something you have to live with. I had a friend who needed a surgery to repair her bladder after childbirth (she also had fairly major issues with incontinence) and she's 100% better now. They did advise for her to wait until she was done having children, so she waited until she had her second.

Thanks everyone. I will work on kegels and walking, and try not to hold in my pee (hard with a newborn and toddler).

@Myicitygirl: i'm not going to say it is "normal" because it is an issue that has to be solved. But, I will say that it did happen to me, and with kegels, squats and just walking (to strengthen lower abdomen, pelvis and thighs), it has gone away.
Guess what? Not only did I pee my pants, but I full-on shit myself too. Yup. Postpartum is a great time for self-esteem. Don't be embarrassed: it will go away with a little work. And you are seriously only 11 days pp :) Cut yourself some slack.

I still have issues at 21 months pp after a vaginal delivery. It definitely got better but it's still there. I'm very conscious about peeing frequently so no accidents occur. And I'm pregnant again so there goes any sort of control! lol

Eeek, I have no advice, but now I'm scared because I'm 14 months postpartum and STILL have issues (I always pee myself when I cough or sneeze) and I'm pregnant with #2, so apparently it's all just going to get worst!

So am 11 days postpartum (med free vaginal delivery, no interventions), and 30 minutes ago, for the second time since my delivery, I completely peed myself. Not a little leak, or peeing while coughing. Like open the floodgates peed myself.

During this second pregnancy I occasionally leaked while coughing or sneezing (don't recall this happening during my first pregnancy). After my first vaginal delivery, I had minor incontinence issues for a few weeks postpartum, where I would pee a little in my pad before I could make it to the bathroom. But nothing like this.

Both times I barely felt like I was holding in any pee, and I think I had my hands under running water.

Please tell me this is normal and will resolve itself (I plan on starting kegels immediately).
