@dreamocracy: For mommy thumb - I had no pain in most positions but if you hold your arm straight in front of you, make a fist with thumb out (not tucked under fingers) and tilt the fist towards the ground while keeping arm in same position you get intense pain in the wrist near the thumb. I first tried 3 weeks with a splint because I didn't want a shot unnecessarily while breast feeding, and there was moderate improvement. After the 3 weeks, the doctor estimated 1-2 weeks to recover with cortisone shot or several months with just the splint. I decided to get the shot and it was better within a week. Risk to baby is minimal as it's a small dose injected locally and steroids don't pass well into breastmilk.

@danda: when I was doing research, I saw mommy thumb, I think that may be what I have since the pain in my wrist is right near my thumb and sometimes it "pops". It went away in just one shot? I might need to man up and go to the doctor!

My hips were awful. It went away when I started working out again. Maybe it had something to do with load bearing exercises building them back up?

I have the same problems. I'm 6 months post partum and my hips still get really sore if I lay in the same position for too long. My left wrist acts up too sometimes. It has gotten better, but it'd be nice if it would disappear altogether!

I had such bad pain in my wrist that I went to an orthopedist and was diagnosed with a type of tendinitis also known as Mommy Thumb. If you have really bad pain go to a doc - a cortisone shot in the wrist left me pain-free after about a week.

Anyone experience joint pain postpartum? I'm 4 months pp and my joints get sore and achy/stiff feeling often, especially if I'm in the same position like nursing or sleeping. The most painful are my knees, wrist near my thumb, and ankles.

If you experienced it, how long did it last of it went away? Did anything help? I've tried eating calcium supplements and bananas for the potassium but haven't noticed anything different. I just bought some osteo-biflex which I've never taken before and I haven't started taking it yet since I just bought it tonight.

Hoping it goes away and doesn't just turn into arthritis :(
