Echo muffins. Banana or zucchini. Healthy but not too. Can put ground flax or oatmeal for milk production.

Also maybe you could make those egg muffins and freeze them. Eggs cheese sausage veggies. Then she can microwave for breakfast.

I also was loving avocado on toast. Slice some up salt pepper maybe some feta and done. So maybe a few unripe avocados so they’ll get nice after a day or two of dropping off.

Agree with precut veggies. I didn’t want to stand there and slice veggies.

Almonds. String cheese. Kind bars.

@Foodnerd81: yes this! I actually just bought a box of kodiak cakes blueberry lemon muffin mix. Man it’s good. Healthy but not too much. I threw in a half cup of fresh blueberries. I had never tried that product before

Chocolate chip lactation cookies, muffins, graham crakers and peanut butter and fruit were my favorites (I love carbs)

I love the idea that @lady baltimore: posted. It would have been awesome to have some filling, not to snacky, but easy to eat food around the house.

I ate a lot of oatmeal cookies, fruit, and oddly enough soup and crackers. I had issues with dehydration and low appetite.

My favorite cookies I amped up the protein and fiber thusly:
Start with your favorite oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe
Swap half the butter for nut butter and add a spoonful of coconut oil
Add 2T flax seeds
Replace 1/3 of the oats with sliced almonds which are a similar texture
Decrease the sugar slightly and use mini chocolate chips, but fewer of them.
Those little tweaks meant I could eat cookies without the blood sugar spikes and dips.

@ChiCalGoBee: I raided Trader Joe’s for snacks before my induction. We are 5.5 days postpartum with twins and still have them kicking around. It’s fun and convenient and I will probably try to go back once we run out!

By far our favorite was the dark chocolate peanut butter cups but I am not sure we are responsible enough to have those kicking around the house!

I am currently a breastfeeding mom. Generally speaking, the best foods are those that can be eaten with one hand or one utensil. Bonus points if they can boost my milk supply (e. g. oatmeal products, Indian food made with fenugreek, etc.).

These are all great ideas! When DD was born we had lots of dinners brought to us, but we were definitely lacking in the snack department.

@Sushi0917: I'm 16 days out from my c-section and a friend just brought over a bag of snacks from Trader Joe's. Peanut butter pretzels, dried fruit, trail mix, etc. It's been amazing as a nursing mom who is often one-handed to be able to grab those and snack, as sitting down for a meal is basically not happening at the moment. I plan to do the same kind of things for friends in the future!

My in-laws went to a fancy grocery store and bought a bunch of things from the prepared foods section when we brought my daughter home from the hospital. I loved being able to grab a quick forkful of chicken salad or pasta salad when I was feeling peckish - yummy, filling, and truly no prep.

I loved my lactation bites, I added chocolate chips so they felt like a cookie that were reasonably helpful and easy to eat one handed. String cheese is a go to for easy to eat but good for you snack. Breakfast type foods are a great idea, everyone brings lunch/dinner foods.

I liked bite size snacks so I could easily eat with one hand while nursing. Cheese sticks, pretzel sticks, and carrots w hummus or other dip was my fave combo!

Muffins! I made banana muffins with pecans, stocked my freezer with them, and microwaved them on a regular basis. And containers of mixed nuts. And graham crackers, weirdly - I went through so many graham crackers.

Maybe some of the cookies or granola bars that stimulate milk production?

I wanted homemade muffins so badly but didn’t have the energy to make them. Like, semi healthy but not toooo healthy, but not like giant cupcakes in disguise from the grocery store. And things that required like no work- the cheese already cut into slices, snacks like pita and hummus and pre cut veggies. And then I had made a few single serving calzones that I froze and I think I microwaved them to eat that were good as something to eat mostly with one hand.

But mostly I just really wanted oatmeal chocolate chip muffins.

ETA: and yes to bagels and cream cheese!!

My best friend just had her first baby and I want to stock her kitchen with easy snacks and meal fixings. I was thinking along the lines of bagels, cream cheese, sandwich fixings, but that's about the extent of my ideas. What were things you really liked for postpartum snacks and meals? Bonus points if it happens to be vegetarian!
