@LuLu Mom: yeah I hate it.. And because of the other issues I have to take an antibiotic to counter the effects of the macrobid. The last UTI I had wasn't even after sex (like more than two weeks, it's been a rough pregnancy!) and luckily it was suscepible to macrobid but in the lab it was resistant to a lot of other stuff probably due to that second antibiotic. It's so frustrating. :( The urologist I talked to was saying it's because the urethra/that area can be colonized, so it's hard to stop getting them.. I'm going to get a second opinion after delivery and postpartum. The last UTI I had all I can think of was that it was hot and I may have been a little dehydrated for a couple days. This whole situation is incredibly frustrating. I'm sorry you're going through it! Definitely see a good urologist!

Eta, and I'm already on two probiotics and eat yogurt daily.. Not specifically women's health but yeah. Ugh.

@2littlepumpkins: this is kind of what I'm hoping, just a way to get rid of whatever lingering bacteria is going on. I really don't want to have to think about taking something every time we have sex, and honestly these don't always seem to be a result of having sex and I'm super careful about trying to prevent them when we do.

Yes but it didn't start til lo was 18m. Not quite as bad as yours, I've had 4 in 1.5 years. I have macrobid I'm supposed to take if I have sex. But I have to be very careful because the antibiotics led to other recurrent problems. I haven't tried yet but both d mannose and Cystex liquid are supposed to be good.

@Mamaof2: I went to the doctor (again) yesterday and he gave me a stronger one than I've had for the other 3, this is the first time I'm not breastfeeding so he could give me a strong one, before they had to account for breastfeeding. He suggested I got see a urologist because he said this is not normal and he wants to make sure something else isn't causing it.

ugh! UTI's suck! Are you sure you are fully getting rid of them? Maybe you need a stronger antibiotic?

Ever since I've had my second I seem to be getting reoccurring UTIs. I just wake up one day with serious pain/urgency to urinate and I know its happened again. I was never one to get them very often, maybe 2-3 in my life, and in the last 5 months I've had 4. One was so bad it turned into a kidney infection (it was my fault I let it go too long hoping it would clear up on it's own.) Anyone else have this? I feel like I'm following all the "prevention" rules but maybe I'm missing something?
