It took a lot of commitment but after having DD1 I was able to get my stomach to a good place by 7-9 months. After DD2, my diastasis recti was worse and I have a hernia from my pregnancy. The fact that I have a desk job and two kids, vs. having been working part time with DD1, makes a huge difference. Basically I’ll never wear a two piece again.

I never got 100% back to normal but I wasn't exercising consistently either. I actually weighed less and was smaller but still more prone to bloat. Post baby #3, I have stalled at 7 lbs above pre-preg weight although I'm only five weeks pp (but I've weighed this for like the past two or three.) I was hoping I'd come on here and there'd be some miracle cure for skin. 😜As others have said water and eating right and cutting sweets and at least for me sodas including Diet Coke 😭 helps a lot. I'm currently in survival mode still though so not ready to cut Diet Coke although the past week have been eating healthier.

@Portboston: I only drink water but I love sweets!!! However, I am down to my pre pregnancy weight and size. It’s just my tummy having alittle wrinkles :( - I’ll keep trying to turn away from the cake or gummy bears! Totally agree that it’s diet.

Mine was back by 3 months, but that was all breastfeeding an allergic child (no dairy, spy, gluten, eggs, or peanuts). I found walking really helped as well.

I think a lot of it is diet unfortunately. Of course toning your muscles is important but cutting down on sugar and making sure you’re getting a ton of water will help with your skins elasticity. That being said, I’m 2.5 years post partum and although my stomach is flat and appears toned, I definitely can tell I have extra skin compared to pre baby.

@starchild: It’s amazing to see that! I just wish I could get on the same road! But like you said it takes time and I don’t have strict routine down. I do Barre and that has helped tone etc.

Have you tested yourself to see if you have a diastasis recti? If you do, crunches are the worst thing you can do. This is a helpful article

I'm in a fitness group on FB and have seen tons of inspirational pics of mamas who have 6 pack abs now. Even if you're not angling for that, you can still make good progress, but it takes tiiiiiiime.

@MamaBear87: It’s the extra skin I guess that bothers me. I don’t know if sit-ups for the rest of my life will work ha! My navel or my skin isn’t the same. I understand our bodies change with having children just trying to see if I can improve anything especially with wanting more children.

I think the unfortunate truth is it might not go back to as flat as it was pre baby. I have an extra bit of skin that I think will likely be there forever.

Hi all,

It’s been alittle over 7 months! Just wondering how long it may take to get the tummy back?! I’ve worked on getting back to where I want/need to be but just not happy with my tummy.

Any tips or suggestions?!

Thanks!
