@HappyBaker: Thanks again for your reply yesterday. My doctor does suspect an infection and prescribed antibiotics, so I’m hoping I feel better soon. They checked my BP at the office and it’s going down, so that’s a good sign too.

@Ms. RV: My white blood cell count was a bit elevated yesterday, but not super high. I thought initially the pain was because I was backed up, but I’ve been able to go and still have the pain.

@LemonJack: If you had an infection, I would expect your white count to be high. How are your bowel movements? I know getting backed up can put a ton of pressure inside your lower abdomen.

@HappyBaker: @skiierchck99: Thank you. I feel better about my blood pressure since I started the medication. My doctor has also been monitoring me closely for pre-eclampsia and I had blood work done most recently yesterday (and all was okay). At this point I’m frustrated and worried that I might have an infection on top of it. Recovery with my other two was a piece of cake.

@LemonJack: I have a coworker whose daughter was dx with post-partum onset preeclampsia and had to be hospitalized for a week. It can be life threatening - I’d keep pushing for answers even if you have to go to the er to get them. Thinking of you.

@LemonJack: don’t feel ridiculous at all and keep trusting your gut! I felt the exact same way like they were going to think I was crazy (and even had one doctor who definitely thought I was suffering from postpartum mental health issues at first instead of physical ones) but in the end I’m glad I trusted my gut and kept being annoying - I ended up in the ER 3 times in one week for BP at levels that should have given me a stroke and finally my OB made them admit me and it took 4 days in the hospital to get it under control. I would definitely advise making an appointment with a regular physician for the BP stuff at some point soon too, because in my case the first few drugs my OB tried didn’t work and it took a lot more trial and error to find a solution. The infection was a cakewalk compared to all that, so hopefully they’ll just give you some antibiotics and that part will resolve soon!

@HappyBaker: Thank you! Your issues sound similar to mine. They’ve been tracking my BP super carefully and actually put me on medicine temporarily, but I’ve been in and out of the office a ton because of that. I almost feel ridiculous going back in because I’ve been there so much, but something just doesn’t feel right and I didn’t have these symptoms at all with my first two. It’s good to know your actual infection cleared up quickly with antibiotics. We’ll see what they say tomorrow.

@LemonJack: I had one with baby #3 as well but along with abdomen pain had a crazy high fever. I ended up in the ER for mine because my blood pressure also spiked (unrelated to the infection). The infection part was easily treated with antibiotics and I felt much better from those symptoms in a day or two. I will say definitely keep an eye on your blood pressure as that is what can get out of control and many people aren’t thinking of that postpartum. For me, my symptoms of when it got TOO high were a pounding headache that OTC meds couldn’t touch. Good luck and hang in there!

@LemonJack: Yes, my last one was several years ago though. Took about a day after antibiotics but drink plenty of water and 100% cranberry juice. I did not have your symptoms but they are different for everyone.

Has anyone here had a postpartum uterine infection? I had babe #3 last Monday, and my recovery this time has been more challenging than with my first two. I’ve been dealing with persistent high blood pressure, which they’ve been watching, and now I’m beginning to wonder if I have an infection. My two signs are pain in my lower abdomen that isn’t going away as well as an off smell to my discharge. I haven’t had a fever which I feel like is a good sign, and is why I didn’t press to be seen sooner.

I did call our doctor’s office today and am going in tomorrow, but in the meantime I’m nervous. Has anyone here had a uterine infection without a fever? If you had one, how long did it take to clear it up?
