Posts about spelling (the shift from ear-spelling to proper spelling/formal spelling tests), summer skill retention, and building self confidence in skills (particularly for kids who are not the “best at” subjects/fastest to answer) would also be fantastic. DS is an early October baby that may be able to start kindergarten early if he is ready.</p> <p>Another one is how to handle moving districts either before starting kindergarten or between grades. I'm military, so we will be moving multiple times during elementary. I am in the midst of potentially taking in a cousin. It will start as the parent signing over guardianship, and then potentially private adoption through parental rights being relinquished. (It's a whirlwind and I feel like it will be a huge learning experience) </p> <p>Particularly if you're taking in a child that is older than your own. I haven't really shared about this yet, but my family took our first foster placement in February. I would love to write some about this (protecting their privacy of course) but I am wondering if there is anything in particular the community would be interested in knowing about?</p> <p>I am also back to teaching, and would love to do some elementary school posts. Anything you are wondering about school age kids? I was thinking maybe doing some posts explaining Common Core Math (first grade especially is a doozy!) if that might be helpful to anyone. It seems totally crazy when all you see is a worksheet coming home with your kid, but once you understand the methods they make so much more sense! I am also parenting two 5th graders now, so I would love to do some writing about big kids :) </p> <p>I have missed this community, and am excited that I will be able to be around more! &lt;3 </p>
