@Sams Mom: I am thinking we might get the PB nightstands actually, because they will match the Pb bed exactly and are cheap enough and notbused so much that I am ok if they aren’t too quality. And I still really like the non Pb one. I love the one you got but it doesn’t really go with the bed we have already and really like. But I looked at it in my local store a bunch of times.

@Foodnerd81: we got the cool rustic in mink.

We bought it from a family friend's furniture store. He told us he sells more than he expected to at the price point, but has never had a quality complaint. (The 3 complaints he hears in furniture is 1) going to a queen instead of King of the king would have fit, 2) buying one nightstand instead of 2 to save, 3) buying a love seat in place of a couch)

@Sams Mom: that’s funny- that link brought me to the dresser I really do love but is a bit smaller than I want! It’s what I’ve been comparing everything else to. I like the artisan choices wide dresser in the Amish cherry or dark cherry. I’m glad to hear you really like your stuff from there.

We have a pottery barn dresser. I like it and it has held up well. It’s heavy and sturdy and the back is solid, which were all important to me as I’m sick of dealing with cheap diy assembly items.

Main con that might be disappointing if the items you’re looking at are like this too is it doesn’t have soft close/slow close drawers. They are just a regular open and close.

@Purpledaisy: I worked at Pottery Barn once upon a time, too!

I don’t remember much about the bedroom furniture because I was almost exclusively in the tabletop department, but the dining furniture was hit or miss. At that time, most of the chairs were really well-made but only a couple tables were worth buying. As purpledaisy said, the rest were MDF and they scratched really easily. It was hard to keep the floor models from looking all beat up. I did buy a couch with my employee discount when I worked there and it’s still in reasonably good shape almost 15 years later. But my taste has changed since then and when we replace it in a year or two, I will be looking elsewhere.

Should add that we used a coupon and saved a decent chunk. And yes it is overpriced but I love the look and have been happy with the quality.

All of our bedroom furniture is PB. Bed, nightstands, and two dressers. Neither of the two lines you mentioned, but we love them!!

I know this is a suggestion outside of what you're asking for...

But check out Artisan & Post
http://artisanandpost.com

They're 100% solid wood, built in Virginia, very very heavy (I about hurt myself pushing our bed away from the wall to switch out charger cords). It's expensive, but from the looks of it, cheaper than PB. They have soft close (can't slam) drawers that open and close like a dream.

We just bought a king w/storage, wide dresser + mirror, 3 drawer nightstands x2, and tall chest of drawers for about $5,600.

I used to work at pottery barn and I do not think their furniture is worth the price at all. You’re mainly paying for the name. Their stuff is all just medium density fiberboard with a veneer. I have ikea furniture that I think is just about as nice as PB that was a fraction of the price.

@Foodnerd81: for what it is worth, I think all the pottery barn dressers that we looked did not close smoothly. Not my favorite, particularly for the price, but we had been looking for furniture forever so I just bit the bullet.

@Madison43: oh thanks! Yeah that’s the one I’m leaning towards but it’s expensive! For the same price (including the 20% discount) I can get one I really like from the local store, Amish type quality, super smooth drawers... but like 3-5 inches narrower than I want. I’m afraid I’ll be mad if the drawers don’t close smoothly.... why don’t they just have reviews on their site?!

It does look like that one is at a local store on display though so I can check it out. Local meaning 30 minutes but still.

@Foodnerd81: we have the Hudson extra wide dresser and chifforobe. It’s nice. I wish the drawers opened a little bit smoother but it’s not super annoying. We bought then during one of the 20% off sales and got some additional $$ off bc the delivery guys banged up our walls when it was delivered, so I was ultimately happy with the price.

We have a Logan entertainment center in white, and it’s my only experience with PB furniture. We bought it used from my local mommy’s group. It’s definitely sturdy and I like it—not sure I would have spent 3500 on it new, just because I’m not the type to want “forever furniture” if that means I’ll be hanging on to it when it’s out of style. But I really like it for what I paid. Which was $800, haha. We have this, if the bedroom furniture is similar (description says it’s real wood but topped with veneers for an even colored surface?), and it’s held up through 2 families who each have two kids. https://www.potterybarn.com/m/products/logan-media-tv-storage-cabinet-suite-medium/?pkey=ctv-stands-media&isx=0.4

@raspberries: no, that’s helpful! I feel like you are paying somewhat for the name, which I get. I just wish I could check them out in Person. For a small piece I’m fine with taking a chance, but I’d be really upset to spend $1000+ on a dresser and have it feel cheap.

Not super helpful as I'm not familiar with the Stratton or Hudson lines, but we have a few pieces of Pottery Barn furniture and it's all been about the same (pretty good) quality. I still feel like it's a little bit overpriced, but I've never had quality issues with anything I've ordered from there (so maybe I'm just cheap, haha!)

Anyone have Pottery Barn bedroom furniture that they can weigh in on the quality? We are finally buying new, nice, bedroom furniture and I’m having a hard time finding what I really like. We already have a Pottery Barn bed, now we want to buy a dresser and nightstands. None of the pottery Barn stores near me have the styles we like on display. I’ve looked in a few local stores and have found one I like a lot, but don’t love (it’s just a little smaller than I want but otherwise really nice).

I hesitate to buy PB without seeing it in person, but I haven’t found anything I like as much, style and size wise, that I can see. I’m particularly looking at the Stratton or Hudson lines.
