@pinkb: @yoursilverlining: @Smurfette: Thanks guys. Sounds like it'll pass eventually and in the meantime I'll just make it as boring as possible! And yes looks like working out and cooking are just becoming things of the past haha.

@MrsSRS: I totally tried and somehow we still wind up super late...toddlers have some kind of crazy magic time control! Maybe I need to start at like 5:30 pm. :)

Maybe bedtime 15 minutes earlier to compensate?

Mine does this. We leave her room and within 10 mins she comes cause she has to go potty. 60% of the time she doesn't go. But we tell her she can come out once but that is all. She goes in the bathroom by herself and I check on her if I think she is taking too long.

What is this cook and work out you speak of?

My LO did this as well. I never deny her the bathroom - if she says she needs to go, we go, even when I know full well it's a lie/delay tactic. I do only let her have maybe 20 seconds to "try to go" and then I let her know that 1) it's bedtime, ) she needs sleep to be strong, and 3) she has to the count of 5 to go or we are going back to bed and we can try again later if she needs.

She only did that for a few weeks, and then eventually gave up that delay tactic. Good luck!

DD was doing this. We put her in bed and leave her room. If she says she needs to go potty we tell her to go, she doesn't have to ask permission to go potty and leave it at that. We do not go with her to the bathroom. It took a week or so but she soon realized it wasn't fun and she would be sitting by herself in the bathroom. Now if she really has to go she gets up and goes, but when she is just saying it to delay we just repeat that if she has to go to just get up and go. We just tried to make it no big deal and she seemed to lose interest.

Help! My almost three year old daughter has been saying she needs to poop every night after we do her bedtime routine and put her in the bed. She never poops, but will sit there forever and I know she doesn't have to really go, but I can't just stop her from using the potty when she said she "needs" to! I try to make it as boring as possible--no books or songs--but nothing is working. She needs to sleep and I need to cook and workout and clean the house! Aghhh--any advice?
