Oh yes. He wouldn't go to the potty for hours at a time, but at bedtime he'd suddenly get up several times in 30 minutes to claim to use the potty. Then he'd announce there's nothing in there, delayed in putting back his pull up, washing hands..... ahhh!

I have no real solution, I kinda don't want to discourage his requests of using the potty though so I do allow him to get up and use the potty when he asked to. His bathroom is actually connected to the bedroom, so I asked him to use the potty himself. sometimes he does that but he'd have trouble putting his pull up back on so I'd go in and help him then.

YES!!! We potty trained her over thanksgiving and lately (last few days) she's been asking to go like three times right before bed. Granted, she actually goes potty (#1) every time, so it's a good thing, but goodness...i just want to get her into bed!

M has been trained for a few months and she still uses this sometimes! I start by taking her potty right after story time. That way there's a pretty good chance she does not need to. But if she asks I always take her. But if the first time there is nothing and she asks again I tell her she will lose song if she doesn't go pee. I follow through with my threat and the issue mainly resolved itself after a few nights.

@Bao: Not sure if this is too gross or not, but I"m sure you could find a ton of used potties in a local Facebook group!

@Bao: If my children are any judge, it's a very common stalling tactic! We ended up putting a potty in the room at night, which nipped the issue in the bud.

We are on day two of potty training but bedtime has been stalled both nights because LO says she has to go potty. Since we are training I keep taking her because I really don't know at this point! She never went any of the times she claimed she had to once she was already tucked in bed though.

Does your LO use "I have to go potty" as a way to stall at bedtime? How do you handle it?
