@ShootingStar: I can no longer play the pregnant card and I'm home with her way more than he is so it will fall on me. But I'd rather clean it out of a potty than her pants.

@Foodnerd81: I usually make DH deal with it, if I can :silly: . The pee's not so bad. But the poop really gets to me! Being pregnant does not help with this, lol. A couple times I almost threw up.

I've always kept a little potty in the car. Lo knows it's only for emergencies so it never confused anything in the beginning. She still uses it now if we're somewhere with portapotties or gross bathrooms.

@ShootingStar: that's the main reason I'm considering it- if she could do it herself completely while I'm feeding the baby it would be a life saver. But also- yuck. :silly:

@Foodnerd81: I didn't want a little potty either, but it's actually really awesome that he can get on it himself. We have step stools for the regular toilets in our house, but he still can't really get on it by himself.

The Pottette with bags (gross sounding but really clean and convenient) was a great travel potty - I still take it under the stroller to parks with no (or disgusting) bathrooms.

@AggieDaze: I was considering something like this. Hoping I wouldn't have to have a little potty at home but I'm feeling like I'd rather have it if I need it this weekend...

Or I was thinking this might serve double duty (ha no pun intended) as a little potty at home just in case plus something to keep in the car or stroller. http://www.amazon.com/BabyBjörn-051015US-BABYBJORN-Smart-Potty/dp/B002Q0YA2Q/?tag=lucslis-20

We have a potette. It's awesome.

DS1 is fully potty trained (he's 3), but when he's gotta go, he's gotta go and prefers this over peeing outdoors somewhere (can't say I blame him).

We keep a potty in the trunk. She's used it twice - once on a road trip when she had to RIGHT NOW and I barely had time to pull over and another time when the public bathroom was so gross I would use it myself, never mind have her.

We have this one at home and sometimes take it along in the car (or it even fits in the bottom of my single bob stroller). Mainly I take it when we are headed to a park that doesn't have easy access to a potty. I'll probably throw it in the back for a road trip too.

This little potty was well worth the money. He uses it at home constantly for peeing but has always sat on the normal potty for poop (thank goodness).

We have a My Carry Potty. http://www.amazon.com/My-Carry-Potty-MCP-coccinelle/dp/B00MBFWMZI

It's great because it doesn't look like a potty so I don't feel weird bringing it places. We used it a lot in the early days when we were at my parents, friends houses, restaurants etc. It was a lifesaver when she was going through her "I hate public washrooms" phase. Now that she can use the regular toilet we don't use it as much, but I still keep it in the car for emergencies. She uses it as a step stool to get into her car seat haha

Used it 1 time when PT and we were out with no access to a rest room

Used it again at age 4 on a road trip and we were on a stretch of road with no place to stop - I remembered I had this in the trunk and we pulled over and she used it - lifesaver!!

So much easier with boys who can pee on the side of the road! :silly:

We were so confused about what to do about this when we first started potty training. We landed on keeping a potty seat in my trunk, in a target bag. He's a bigger than average kid, and he's still too little to sit on public toilets without falling in. And boys need to sit at first too  .

I don't want to keep a full on potty in the car, and usually we're in places that have public bathrooms. So we use this seat - http://www.target.com/p/prince-lionheart-toilet-training-seat/-/A-17008576#prodSlot=medium_1_10&term=potty+seat. We have 2 in our bathrooms at home and one for travel. I like it a lot, except I wish it fit in our diaper bag.

Yes - we keep a potty in the back of our SUV. We have a small potty that has a lid - it works well for us. We've also had to use it when traveling and the public restroom was too gross for LO to use.

I bought a portable little potty that can act as it's own chair or go over a regular toilet, but we never used it. We never traveled further than 30 minutes in the early days of potty training and I made sure he went potty before we left so that we didn't have any accidents. Though part of it was probably just luck too.

Do you keep a potty chair in the car or bring something like that with you in early potty training days? (Especially if you have a girl, I imagine it's easier for boys). Wondering if we need to get a potty chair for our 2.75 yo and if so, if we should get something more portable. We have seat reducers for the toilets and she sits in them fine but doesn't actually pee or poop in the toilet yet.
