@Charm54: i feel like i might have to do this. we didn't use pull ups before in early training, but i thought diapers might be confusing her, so we used those for nighttime only and switched to "night night undies" for naps and "travel undies" for long car rides (we travel almost every weekend) which she kept dry for the most part (even for a 2 hour car ride, i was shocked!) and now she's peeing in everything, diaper, pull up, undies, even bottomless. her daycare/preschool has been great, but going from never having accidents there to having 3-4 a day.... i don't think they're gonna wanna put up with it for much longer.... and now that i think of it, the only thing that was different in those previous 2 weeks was that she wasn't in preschool due to a break and travel.... hoping she gets back on the train soon. or i will go to pull ups for preschool so i don't lose out on their goodwill!

@Mrs Green Grass: the problem is, she had a regression after moving (4.5 months ago, can't believe it's been that long!) and we recovered from that.... not a clue what's going on now, but control is definitely a big one for my stubborn kiddo. i've seen it when she does it on purpose and other times where she's literally sitting there doing nothing or coloring or whatever and then starts peeing. it's so weird because she used to cry out, potty potty potty and run to the bathroom! it's like i don't even know how to "train" this?

@birdofafeather: this was (is) us! Dd was day trained for a good month - very few accidents, going on her own, etc. then out of the blue she started peeing all.the.time. She would sit in a big puddle of pee and not even care. Daycare was changing her 5x a day. She wasn't telling us when she needed to go

I was starting to think she was too young, but she had done it for a whole month so I knew she could do it.

I was so tired of cleaning up messes and stressing out about it so I put her in pull ups and took a more relaxed approach.

All of a sudden she has started back up with asking to go, only wanting to wear underwear, being able to hold it again...I'm hopeful it will stick this time!
Good luck!!

@birdofafeather: I don't have an answer but it sounds like it's probably about control. I'm sure it's related to moving...I'd maybe googled regressions after moving. I hope she gets back on track before baby comes!!

@skibobrown: how did this turn out for you? we've been potty training forever it seems like, but about a month ago (after a move and finally getting serious) i felt like we were there and DD (29 months) was totally day trained. she was finally telling us she had to go, held her pee for a 2 hour drive, no accidents at preschool. now all of a sudden, she's peeing her pants even at home where she's 10 feet from her potty. she knows where she's supposed to go and yet, i find her in a puddle of her own pee 3-4 times a day! i'm at the end of my rope because if i take her at timed intervals, she doesn't go. i'm about to lose it.

@skibobrown: I think you just answered your question, her trigger for the regression was the taking away of the pacifier. I would explain that even if she wears diapers/pull ups that there will be no pacifier, but that big girls wear panties and get special XYZ when they do so without accidents. I'm all for incentives/charts and positive reinforcement

@skibobrown: Honestly, we tried everything, but she ended up just getting past it on her own. How bad are her accidents? Is she having a full on pee in her underwear and it's dripping down her legs? Or are they like she's trying to hold it in and getting distracted bc she wants to keep playing so she accidentally leaks?

We tried reward charts, incentives, taking her and putting her on at specific intervals - like after she wakes, after naps, after meals, right before we leave the house, before bed, positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement...

We bought her to the doctor today to check for UTI, and she doesn't have one. I don't think she's drinking more liquids than normal, and there haven't been any dramatic changes at home. There are no obvious triggers other than normal toddler stuff of being pretty unreliable in general. She did tell me one night that she wanted to "be a baby" because babies get pacifiers -- so maybe she thinks she'll get her pacifiers back if she starts wearing diapers again. (We took away her pacifiers about a month and a half ago.)

@Mrs. High Heels: How did you get past the potty regression? We've gone back to using a timer, but I have the sense that we might need to add in more potty incentives as well.

Any chance she has a UTI?

Anyone else? Is this totally uncommon? I have no idea what to do -- we potty trained DD months ago, so it would really suck to admit defeat, go back to diapers, and have to start all over again.

We never used pull-ups -- just went straight to undies... but I think daycare is ready to murder us if we don't switch to diapers or pull-ups right now. We can tell that they're getting tired of all of the potty accidents.

Our girl did the same thing! So frustrating! We just put her pull ups back on but kept the usual potty breaks in. It seemed to resolve itself in a couple weeks.

So I have no idea what's going on. My daughter was reasonably well potty trained. She still had one or two pee accidents several days out of each week, but usually she would come home from daycare in the clothes we dropped her off in at least half the days of the week. ...and then this week hit, and now she is having potty accidents every other second. She's going through 5 pairs of undies each day at school and multiple pairs of pants, and it doesn't seem to bother her. I have no idea how to get things back on track and am worried that something is wrong.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before. How did you get your kid to end the potty regression?
