We just recently potty trained my 2.5yr old and we had the same issues. Basically we had to go somewhere and I didn't want her to have an accident. I gave her a suppository (she has a history of constipation) and had her sit in the toilet and she went. It clicked and she now goes but she used to be a once a day pooper and now it's every 2-3 days. Not sure how to help but I think after the first time in the potty they get it! That's why we used the suppository. Good luck!!

My son was afraid to poop on the potty. I showed him the method in the OCPT book with playdoh and my fist (so gross) and showed him that he is in control of his poop. Then he wanted to try with the playdoh. Then he pooped in the potty.

Also, is she using the real potty or a kid one? Sometimes kids are really freaked out by using the big potty to poop because of the water and distance it has to fall. lol!

@FaithFertility: she can sit for ling time but holding for long times makes much more harder to go. Its a vicious cycle.

@Bluebonnet: thanks we don't plan to give her diaper to poop.
We are not night training so she pooped before going to sleep in her night diaper.

Maybe you/they can giver her a book oror something to keep her sitting longer?!

That works ffor my DD if she has to poop but won't sit long enough.... lol

Don't go back to diapers!!

There is a whole poop chapter in OCPT - read it again. Hopefully it will help you establish a game plan.

Don't worry about school - LO's preschool teachers have likely helped potty train tons of kids.

I know this question has been asked alot if times but i need advice. We are on day 4 of potty training of OCPT with my 2.5 year old. She is doing well with pee but we are really struggling with poop. Day 1 she didn't go at all, day 2 she did very little on potty and then did some in her night diaper. Day 3 and day 4 she tried but didn't go. I am concerned and she needs to go to preschool tomorrow. I am not sure whether she will use potty there or no. I don't want her to be uncomfortable but also feel that giving back her diaper is going backwards and all the uncomfort she had to go through for 4 days will be wasted.
