@irene: I'm not into the naked thing either. Another friend told me it basically makes them think that underwear is the same thing as diapers. We've been doing training underwear and some new Frozen underwear she picked out on her own. She did have another accident this evening, but I think she is starting to realize or at least give me a small clue before it happens!

@shopaholic: I didn't even do the completely naked thing - what I found very helpful was, have really cool underwear that LO really loves, explain to him that these pants are so nice that he should try to keep them clean and dry! It is a big motivation for them - for mine, he would start running to the bathroom when he peed a little in his underwear!

You are lucky that it's just your sofa - My floor is carpeted! Before this whole ordeal, I did think about shrinkwrapping my entire floor, which I am not sure how it can be done, but I just put a ton of towels on the floor, didn't catch much (as obviously I can only cover so much), and ended up being fine after a while. Good luck to you! :)

@irene: Thanks for that! I think it did sound much more casual and easing the LOs into it by just having underwear/naked time at home they way you and my friend described. My BFF also tortured herself 4xs the 3-day thing before her LO was finally potty-trained. So far, K has peed twice on the sofa, so I'm happy I covered it in lots and lots of layers!

@shopaholic: I honestly don't think you need to find 3 days to stay home. We did it (1.5 days over independence day - didn't last 3 days because it was just not working) and it was a disaster! And I single-handedly ruined my 3-day weekend with my husband and my sun - instead of doing something fun, we stayed home torturing each other (as in, I was stressing my son out, he didn't know what he was supposed to do or exactly how to perfectly control his body, he peed on his pants over and over, all of us were traumatized). Then we just casually do the 1 hour a day (doesn't have to be every day) underwear thing, then it slowly happened. Because honestly, it is really INSANE if grown ups have to rearrange their lives because they have to potty train their little one. It is just crazy. And honestly, it works without the 3 day thing. I really don't know why it is such a hype to do it within 3 days because truth is, no one is completely trained (as in NO accidents at all) by the end of 3 days.

@irene: @Smurfette: I've just been trying to let her wear training underwear at night between dinner and bath time. But we didn't try today. It's hard to find 3 days to just stay home. My friend said she did about 3 weeks of naked time any time at home for about 3-4 weeks...

Ahhh! You guys were LUCKY! I just put 3 layers of towels and throw blankets over the sofa and she peed a little through 2 layers within 20 min. I'm so glad I covered it!

Another vote for nothing. We just tried to spend our time playing away from the couch. No issues.

We didn't do anything, just underwear. For us, LOs initial accidents were always standing/running to the potty haha.. You'll learn to read their cues of needing to go.

Did you cover your sofa and any other soft furniture while potty-training? I was advised to plastic-wrap everything, but how terrible that would be for us. I've rolled up the rugs to prepare for PT'ing, but my issues involve our sofas and her Anywhere Chair. Of course any time she is naked or diaper-free, she wants to jump on the sofas or bed. So then I freak out and put her diaper back on. What did you do?
