We took a 3 hours drive just after DD was PT'd - I put her in a diaper and we stopped 1 time and she stayed dry the whole time - oh and NO drinks

@birdofafeather: we potty trained and then did a 2 hour trip two weeks later did a 4 hour trip. We did undies for the short one with a stop and monitored water intake, and a diaper for the longer trip. We do the 2 hour trip pretty regularly and have never had an issue although it is good to know the stops with decent restrooms. I think it will be fine--good luck!!

@mrs. tictactoe: it's such a change in my mind set! it's hard to imagine, but it's how it will always be (with us going to LA every other weekend) so i need to just get over it.

We are going on a 6+ hour road trip this week and we plan on making stops but we will put her in a pull up as backup. She has been day potty trained for a long time but I don't want to deal with any car seat accidents on our vacation.

Life happens. For a two hour road trip, I would just make sure to stop after one hour to let her try to go. For longer than 3 hours, I would put her in a pull up and hope for the best.

I'm trying to block out 3 days in the next month to try the 3-day potty training method with DD (20 months). We didn't try it previously even though she seems interested because we took two separate 5+ hour road trips in the last month.

thing is, i drive with LO 2-3 hours at a time bi-monthly. am i setting myself up for trouble by (possibly) potty training and then putting her in a car for 2-3 hours? i'm imagining lots of accidents and/or lots of stops.

any advice, experience with road trips/longer drives and newly potty trained kiddos?
