@Foodnerd81: I don't think she will, I was actually worried about the same thing with my son and he didn't just get up in the middle of the night without a reason...so, maybe you need to wait it out until the illness is over and try again.

We had to get up and go with him to the potty. He refused to just go in his pull up and wouldn't go by himself. and he would be HYSTERICAL when he woke up to pee in the MOTN--so the sooner we went to him the faster we all went back to sleep.

@Foodnerd81: yeah we tried to tell her to go in her diaper but she refused and would get upset about it so we didn't push it. It's nice to be diaper free but I didn't expect to get up almost nightly with my 2-3 year old for 6 months  !

DS is 3 and has been night potty trained for about a year now. At first we started off by decreasing his liquid intake after 6pm - he usually went to bed at 8 or 830p. We would also make sure he peed right before going to bed. This was to try to eliminate him having to pee in the MOTN. If he needed to pee he would call out to us and we would bring him to bathroom. (He was still sleeping in a crib at the time.) Once we transitioned him to a toddler bed he would sometimes pee on his own in a small toilet in the bathroom (which is right next to his room) or he would come to our room to pee in our master bathroom. He never really had trouble falling asleep after going to the bathroom and we usually were able to do the same. Granted, he never really woke up more than twice a night to go to the bathroom.

ETA: During this time he didn't wear pull-ups or a diaper. So there were a couple times there were accidents. But in order to not damage his mattress we put puppy pads over his bed-sheet and then he slept on top of a blanket.

@Revel: my friend said I should just make her go in her diaper but that just seems so mean! I mean I wouldn't want to. When she sleeps soundly she does, I think it's just she isn't sleeping well because she is sick too.

@looch: she's in a bed and can get it by herself. I'm afraid if we say she can get up to go to the bathroom she will start getting up for whatever reason. She usually does go when we take her. But she won't go back to sleep without a lot of effort and snuggling. BUT that's probably because she is sick as well.

@Pumuckl: we already have a 6 month old up once a night at least. And lately the toddler doesn't go back to sleep easily at all. Hoping this all stops once she feels better.

We get up and take her. It was at least once a night for a few months but is getting less now ( she has been trained for 6 or 7 months). This was kind of unexpected because I expected her to use a diaper at night for a while but once it started to wake her at night she would not go in her diaper. Kind of exhausting though! Hope it passes quickly for you.

I would get her and take her to the bathroom. If she goes, great, if not, right back to bed with no discussion.
Is she in a bed where she can get out herself?

It's exactly the same here minus the diaper. He doesn't go to the bathroom at night by himself 9 out of 10 times. We just take him and all go back to bed right after. Luckily DH and I both fall back asleep easily.

With LO 1, we left a little potty in her room. She is a sound sleeper and has been day time potty trained for 2 years, but regularly wets her night time pull up.

LO2 was in a crib when we started potty training. For the first week, she wanted to get up once or twice a night to pee, but once the novelty wore off, she started sleeping through the night (and waking up with a wet pull up).

We left a little potty in her room. She used it a handful of times but now just goes by herself in the morning.

How did/ do you handle going to the potty at night or nap time? C is almost 3 and has been day time potty trained for a few weeks. She wears a pull up at nap time and diaper at bed, and especially after nap, it's often dry.

The problem is she will wake up and cry for us saying she has to go potty. Multiple times a night. I've said you can't help if you go in your diaper at night while you are sleeping- because I really need us all to sleep. But she cries for us until we go take her.

I think she is waking up because she's been sick and just using that as an excuse to get out of bed and get attention.

How do you handle going to the bathroom during the night? Tell them it's ok to go by themselves? Leave a little potty in the room? Get up with them?

I'm so tired.
