Her teachers just put her down for a nap and 10 mins later she said she needed to poop. So they took her and she did it! She actually stopped to look at it and then it fell on the floor. Haha! At least her teacher laughed about it. So we will see how tomorrow goes!

my 3 year old is still refusing to poop in the potty after months and months of training. she knows where the poop goes, but just doesn't want to do it - she wants to hide in the corner in poop in training pants/undies. yesterday in the bath she screamed she needed to poop so we quickly got her out, then she ran off into the lounge and said she was going to poop on the carpet while shaking her butt. cue freak out!!

@Smurfette: We did a sticker chart. He got a toy the first couple of times he pooped, and then we did like five stickers for some m&m's (which is what we were doing for pee at first) and then we just gradually phased it out as it become routine.

My son pooped only 3 times in his underwear, because I would throw them away (we started with cheap, plain undies because I didn't want to waste money on the characters.) I told him that poopy diapers go in the trash & so do poopy underpants. If you think she really is making the choice to go in her underpants (and not, like, isn't sure its poop until its too late), maybe tossing them or making a switch to more plain panties could help?

Do you always have her in either a pull up or underpants? Perhaps you can try letting her go without any bottoms for the weekend and see if it helps?
My guy luckily only had 2 poop accidents - one on the first day of potty training and one because he was glued to the tv. What worked for him were chocolate chips for pooping on the potty. We started out with a couple for each poop and then reduced it to just one for the first poop of the day and then one day we "ran out" and didn't get any more.
Good luck. I hope she figures it out soon!

@Smurfette: I've been reading a ton of potty training pins lately, one mom of 10 kids had some good ideas. An apron with little toys, everytime success on potty pick a toy, setting a timer for every 15 mins and going...etc etc

@Mrs. Yoyo: like a toy for every time? I told her she gets a big cookie for when she goes (an Oreo compared to her normal butter cookies for good pee's that day) but that isn't working so far.

I will add she gets a prize from the treasure box at school every day if she goes multiples times a day. They stopped giving it to her for every time cause she was getting 5 or 6 a day.

@Smurfette: I know ... I hear boys are usually more reluctant, so maybe it won't be such a long road for you?

I second a big reward ... That helped when we finally had a breakthrough. But also we did have to just back off and let him warm up to the idea on his own. The more we pushed, the more he resisted.

Ugh, this has been a process of several months for us. He refuses to poop on the potty. He'll just go in his pants whether he's wearing underwear or pullups. He tells us that he has to go, but if we put him on the potty, he FLIPS OUT! Then he'll hold it. He went a whole weekend without going. Right now, we're just going to give him some more time.

@hilsy85: She knows the feeling of needing to go. I think she is ignoring it. Last Friday she stayed dry for an hour and half drive and then used the potty when we got there. 5 mins later she pooped in the pull up, but she wasn't showing a sign that she needed to go. But earlier that day she told her teacher she needed to go and she did.

He picked up on pooping in the potty 1/1.5 weeks after starting potty training. He held it for the first few days, I think had an accident or two, and then finally started going on the potty regularly every day or two.

@hilsy85: I can't keep her naked at day care. The other problem is she doesn't have a poop schedule. So we can't catch it. She knows poop goes in the potty and she knows the feeling of needing to go cause she has told us/teachers she needed to go, but then will just go in her panties or pull up.

How long did it take your LO to get pooping in the potty? We are going on 2.5 weeks now since we really started trying. She has pooped maybe 3 times in the potty.
