He learned pretty quickly to point his penis down. I'm not sure how he decided to do it, but he also taught himself to shake it off, and I certainly didn't show him that. :)

He mostly straddles the toilet facing in so the pee doesn't go everywhere. The only drawback is that he totally takes off his pants and underwear. He will stand to pee if there is a stool but we don't use that at home because he uses it to get in trouble too.

We just taught him to hold his penis down when he's sitting. He saw all the others boys at daycare standing though, so he just started standing at daycare and most of the time at home. There really wasn't any teaching involved in that for us.

@travellingbee: Same. We taught him early on to tuck his penis in and lean forward. The potty seat he has is really tiny, so unless he's sitting way far back on it, he has to actually tuck his penis under the little lip and then lean forward, otherwise it kind of pulls and looks uncomfortable!

We are in the middle of potty training right now, and we teach him how to pee sitting down. Could you provide a seat for day care to use for him that has a protector until you teach him to pee standing up?

He hasn't even attempted to poop on the potty yet, but we figured it would be easier to teach him to do both sitting first, then he would want to stand to "be like daddy" later.

DS pees sitting down on the regular potty but he learned very quickly to kind of lean forward and fold himself in half so his pee would go straight down. That might be easier to teach him first.

We taught DS to pee standing up pretty quickly, he was 2.5 when he started potty training and was standing up within 2 or 3 months of that. I had him practice in the shower.

we're on week 2 of potty training my DS...right now we've been training him to sit on the potty for both pee and pooping... our potty has a little protector so it prevents the pee from getting outside the potty...

however, at daycare, they don't have those protectors so everytime DS pees, he gets everything wet and suggested we teach him to pee standing up...

did you potty train your DS to pee standing up first? or sitting down? if you trained him to pee sitting down, when/how did you teach him to pee standing up? any tips would be greatly appreciated! :)
