@Kemma: did she ask for the undies or you just retry? He has annoyingly asked for the potty while we're out and about and I couldn't immediately get him on one. I wonder when I should try again...

Regressions are pretty common with a big transition like new baby. Since he was never really fully trained to begin with, i would stick him back in diapers for now and try again in a few weeks.

My son is almost the exact same age and we started potty training at 30 months too (we still use diapers at nap & night). Over all its gone well, he has done great with pee but has had poop accidents in his underwear pretty much the whole time. We now take his underwear and pants off for a while (usually 30 mins or so) after meals and he will usually run over to the little potty and go without any issues. I'm kind of worried about it continuing this way but I'm just going to give it some more time. Over the summer I will probably do a few days of no underwear/pants and see if it clicks.
I definitely don't plan to go to pull ups. I don't want to mess with the progress we've made so far. I think it would be super confusing for my son at least.

@Foodnerd81: I don't know how reputable it is, but our "result" does sound a lot like my son. It's the personality quiz... my son is apparently a "bear"

oh, this must be so frustrating. can you put a little potty on the main floor as well? if that doesn't work, i wouldn't go too crazy forcing the issue--you have your hands full! and i bet when he goes to preschool he will pick it right back up (if he doesn't do it before then) because of seeing his peers.

We started potty training my son at 30 months which was in January. We did the no pants method and had relative success. He was 100% urine potty trained and would save his poops for his nap or overnight diapers. I was fine with this and figured we'd push the poop issue this summer when he as a bit older.
My second child was born in March and we've had a complete regression. He started pooping his pants vs. saving it for a diaper he knew was coming and also started having pee accidents that he didn't have before. She is almost 8 weeks old so we gave it time and waited it out but my son is still struggling.
We went back to no pants earlier this week and he did fine. He would go in the little potty b/c he knew it meant we would come downstairs to dump it / wash hands, but as soon as he was on the main level of the house the accidents started again.
I'm at a loss. He turns 3 on June 19th. He 100% knows when he has to go and knows how to use the potty he is just choosing not to. Would you force the issue or go back to diapers for a while and see if he makes the decision on his own? For what it is worth I took this potty training personality quiz facebook linked me to through pull-ups and they said his personality type tends to train later 3-3.5 and it should be fast once you get there.

Just looking for advice from anyone who has been there before. Our preschool in september prefers potty training but doesn't require it so we're not under a deadline. Thanks in advance!
