@DesertDreams88: We bought the book and both read it twice. Our issue is the kiddo won’t go pant less. We finally ran out of pants and I washed and hid them so now I’m hoping it sticks.

@Anagram: Now he is going pantsless and today it’s been so much better. Our one accident was right on the potty, but not sitting on it haha. We’re going to be pantsless the rest of the weekend.

@caitcat: I hate that you have to be in the same boat! Eventually they’ll get it right?!

@DesertDreams88: Thanks for the Lucie's List suggestion, I've wanted a summary of the Oh-Crap method. ;)

I have a 3 yr 2 month old who is perfectly capable of using the potty, but anytime she's not naked, she's wetting herself. Our problem is getting pants/underwear back on her!

I don’t have any advice...just commiseration. We’re in the midst of potty training and backsliding and trying again with my three year old and I feel so over it. She’s in pull ups now, which I’d hoped to avoid because she really seemed ready, but it has lifted my stress about being as on top of her with accidents.

My now 5.5 year old had quite a few false starts with potty training between 3-3.5ish and it was a big hurdle to get through - but one day, she did get it and it clicked and we’ve been set. I felt like I really botched potty training her and somehow it still worked out..so I’m trying to take solace in that this time around!

Is he going pantsless during the day? For my 2 kiddos, that was the key to getting them to realize the feeling of needing to go. The did have accidents at first, (we have hardwood and tile, so it wasn’t a big deal), but that was how they connected the feeling of having to go to actually going. I just followed them around with a mini potty and if they started to go, I got the potty under them and then they figured out that Lee goes in the potty. My older one took 5 days to really get it, but it was a clear linear progression and days 3-5 had only 1 accident a day. My 2nd kiddo was one of those rare ones that got it in one day and never had accidents after that. But I kept both of them pantsless for about 3-4 days, then commando with loos pants or a skirt and no panties. We didn’t add panties till they really got the peeing-in-the-potty thing.

I highly, highly recommend the book Oh Crap Potty Training, and searching through hellobee for posts on it - it's a favorite around here usually and there should be summaries. Lucie's List also has a good section summarizing most of the method.

My son just turned 3 and we made the decision to potty train because he showed so much interest! We’re on day 10 and we’re having so much trouble. W doesn’t identify if he needs to go, but shows regret when he does. W just won’t release in the potty but he can stop midstream. He won’t poop on the potty so that’s an issue we’re also trouble shooting. W is able to stay dry through nap and bedtime, is it possible he’s not ready? Do we go back to diapers? I’m so lost. This is where I feel like I failed as a parent!
