We had planned to potty train first, then tackle the crib when we had to. Unfortunately, we had to convert the bed on day 1 of potty training because E catapulted in. Sigh. If I had a choice, I would have moved her when we had to night train

At 2 years old right after his birthday, we did potty training with the support of our daycare. He's turning three next month and still in a crib. With the arrival of his little brother, we don't have the space to put him in a toddler bed and use the crib for the baby. Right now, the baby sleeps in an RNP while he still has the crib. We plan on switching him to a toddler bed/big boy bed when we move.

I want them to be as far apart as possible because I think each *can* be a big battle. We were forced by preschool to PT first and he's extremely happy in his crib so I don't want to mess with his sleep until he's fully potty trained and ready to night train.

We potty trained in August and moved to a toddler bed in September, but it would have made more sense to transition to a toddler bed first since she started waking up in the middle of the night to pee.

@hilsy85: Oh, I know! Sorry if I wasn't clear. I don't feel like we need to move to a big girl bed just because we are potty training soon. I am keeping her in the crib until she can climb out. :)

@Foodnerd81: Ha! LO has peed on the potty a few times. But she also likes to sit on it, not pee, but still go through the steps of wiping, flushing, washing her hands, all very thoroughly and with much seriousness.

C just turned 2 and we just let her start sleeping in the big bed this week- but she was not sleeping well in her crib at all and was pretty insistent on the big bed.

We are starting to talk a little about potty training but definitely not pushing it at all yet. She likes to try to go potty but has yet to actually do anything in the toilet. She'd rather wait and pee in the tub.

we potty trained about 4 months ago, and LO is still in a crib. He calls for us when he needs to use the potty in the MOTN, which isn't often (he also still is in a diaper overnight). I would not assume that night training would quickly follow potty day training, as they are separate processes (night training is more just physiological) so I don't necessarily think that you need to put her in a big bed. It also takes a while for them to be able to pull down and pull up their clothes on their own so it's not like it's an independent process so quickly.

I feel like at this age (nearly 2) one or both is going on for most LOs. I think we will stay in the crib a while longer but probably potty train soon. She is showing lots of potty readiness signs including asking to go potty and peeing - but she has not tried to escape her crib and sleeps well in it, and there is not another LO on the way to take her place. Just wondering which came first for most of you!
