My son was exactly the same, the three day method was successful for pee, but it took about 2 weeks for him to poop in the toilet (he would wait until we put on a diaper). I think part of it was that he was used to pooping standing up, so it took him awhile to figure out how to be comfortable doing it sitting.

My daughter did the same thing. She started wearing underwear (and staying dry) at 2 years, 3 months old but didn't actually poop on the toilet until 2 years, 10 months. For about 7 months, she would wait until she had a pull-up on for nap or bed... So I just started putting diapers on for nap and bed. She knew what she was doing (holding it until she got her diaper) and I didn't want her to hold it for days (in the event I didn't put a diaper on her). She peed one the toilet and had dry underwear the entire time and one day she just told me she had to poop and went to the toilet.

So basically... I didn't say anything and let it happen. I didn't want to end up with any "withholding" issues, so I never pressed the issue.

@mrstiger thanks for the suggestion. My daughter has always strategically pooped right when its time for her nap so she is waiting for that pull up to go on. Will keep bribing and trying.

If you can try to catch her mid-poop and plop her on the potty, it may help. That's what it took for my 3yo (who was pee trained for over a month) to realize it wasn't such a scary thing. I also offered lots of bribes and read "where's the poop" a lot :)

Good luck!

Hi moms, so we tried the 3 day potty training method with my 2.5 year old girl this past weekend. She is doing great with pee. Stops to tell us when she needs to go and has even gone in public. For poop though, she has not gone once. She strategically waits until nap time when she has a pull up on. I know it may take a little longer, but just curious what some of you mammas did to help the situation.
