@Dahlia: awesome!

@maddyz: @snowjewelz: :)

@Mrsbells: Yeah. I am NO mega expert by any means - hence my questions on here -- hah..... BUT I did notice last week that my daughter got way better when I let her tell me when she had to go vs. me taking her every 45 minutes. There was far less struggle and the number of accidents reduced. It also makes her more compliant when I DO prompt, because I'm not doing it all the time. So for us personally, I prefer to have her tell me when she has to go.

@meadow: I guess I am in the minority I've never had to have my LO pee in the grass or in a potty outside. I think the key is not to wait til they ask to go but to keep an eye on the time and prompt them to go when you think they are nearing their limit.

Totally bring the potty outside! Also, just based on my own kid, when she says she has to go we usually still have a few minutes leiway; she has never had an accident just b/c she said she had to pee and I can't take her right away.

Where I am people bring the potty to the playground. It's totally normal and made potty training possible. I can't imagine being stuck inside 700 square feet for a week trying to Potty train.

@meadow: We have the OXO one that folds up with the bag and love it. It works great as a potty seat, as a small potty, and even when hiking/camping and needing to pee in the woods ;)

@meadow: I use the one from my house, she frequently will pee in the car when we are at the park! I think the travel one could be very useful though, I’m just really cheap :wink:

Thank you everyone for making me feel like this is normal! We didn't get to go outside yesterday due to DH last minute deciding to mow the lawn......but today! After nap we are SO doing it. I can't wait! DD is doing so great - I am proud of her.

@MrsKRB: Do you pack up the one from your house or do you have a separate car potty? I remember pre-kids that I alwasy thought that OXO travel one with the bag insert was silly - now I TOTALLY get it!

Take it out. We even took the potty to an outdoor concert at a park when DD was training! We got a lot of supportive comments from people.

I wish I had a picture of the time DS 2 was sitting on the baby potty in the garage with a bike helmet, tshirt, and shoes on... And nothing else.

Some friends of ours stopped by and saw him and didn't really say anything. I think most people get potty training.

@lady baltimore: same. Haha. My kid pees at the park and in our backyard/front yard all the time. I just try to take her to a spot that doesn’t get a lot of people walking/playing. She’s at the point now where if she does it right when we get home I make her wait until we get inside, but i’s Rather have my kid pee on the ground than all over herself/clothes. Plus it’s just pee!

I did catch her poo in a doggy bag at the park last week fun times.

When you have to go you have to go.

My DD pees in the grass when playing outside at my parents' house, so a training potty on the driveway would probably be an improvement, from a propriety standpoint! lol

Oh my gosh - I am embarrassed to be posting this.....but I feel like a complete N00b parent at the moment....

So at our house - we play in the front yard - it is deep-ish by suburb standards (our driveway is 3 full size cars deep without packing them tightly).

After being cooped up all week doing naked bottom style potty training - DD wore pants today and was mostly successful. I'd like to take another step tomorrow and *gasp* play outside during the afternoon. Since we haven't ventured far at all from the bathroom - I don't honestly know how long there is between - "I have to go pee pee" and "I am going pee pee". So far she hasn't had to wait more than 15ish seconds as we run from the living room to the bathroom and pull down her shorts.

SO my big question is.............is it super weird that I want to bring the potty out and put it in the driveway (behind a car so not like center of the yard)?

This weekend, I'd have DH as backup - but typically we play outside when I'm home alone with the kids and I just can't imagine herding them both indoors in time....nor do I trust DS who is also 2yo to stay in the front yard by himself.

Am I crazy? Or is this norm for potty training families?
