Yes! After K was born, I had perfect 30 day cycles for over a year. Now, after Max, I feel like my PCOS is doing weird things again (period every 2 weeks).

Well it took us 3 years to have DS with super long weird cycles and a hormone related brain tumor that had to get removed. We were going through IF testing when I got pregnant on my first cycle in over a year after brain surgery on CD 30-something.

I got my first PP period a month after I weaned and it was super heavy. Then my second period was sooo painful with all the cramps. But the cycle itself was within 30 days so I was encouraged. And then we were pregnant right before DS turned 1 year! Total surprise! So maybe pregnancy did reset things for me.

@bluestriped bee: I didn't get a period until 6-7 months PP they became pretty regular and by 10 months I was on a good 28-29 day cycle! DD was down to 1-2x nursing by then, rest FF in cup! (Not my choice :silly: )
I NEVER had regular periods and didn't ovulaye on my own for years and delt with IF for years before DD!
Now she is almost 14 months and we just got our 2nd BFP :)
I
My body totally reset!

Yeah, it didn't happen to me. Life long irregular cycles, needed clomid to conceive the first. I hoped for this fabled reset, but it took three years of NTNP to conceive the second. At 6 months PP with that one I've got my wildly irregular period back, so this reset is not a thing I experience.

According to my biologist friend, mammals release extra eggs when they start ovulating again after pregnancy, and I think this is the increased fertility that women experience. (I think that breastfeeding prevents ovulation, but once you start ovulating you are likely extra fertile for a period of time.)

I had a mc and it took 8 months for DS1, which seems well within the range of normal. Ds2 was conceived second cycle no issues. I'm now having secondary infertility - repeat losses and apparently low AMH. Not really what I expected since I'm only 2 years older than when I got pregnant for Ds2.

I don't feel like my body has reset, but that's because DH and I are strictly dealing with MFI. However, that doesn't stop me from thinking about future babies. I know I want one more child, but I've only got one embryo left. It's no guarantee. I try to not dwell on it too much. I think you're right, IF never really leaves us!

I got my first post partum period when A and B had just turned one. For about 6 months after that my period was sporadic. The last couple months it's back to exactly 28 days.

With not having my period/not ovulating for so long, I do think it improved my Endometriosis. My periods are lighter and shorter now, plus the cramps aren't nearly as bad as they used to be.

My cycles after both of my babies have been similar to how they were before being pregnant. This time I am still breastfeeding (although weaning in a few days), so that could have something to do with it, but last time I wasn't breastfeeding, and I still had the same issues. My problems are different though (endometriosis and luteal phase defect).

@bluestriped bee: oh okay. 3 months isn't too long. I'd probably just chalk it up to your body regulating at this point. Keep track of it and see where you're at a few more months Down the line. I'm sure it's hard not to worry after IF, but I really don't think a long cycle that soon postpartum is anything to worry about yet. and I'll end with a happy note - I know 2 people with pcos who took years to conceive their first and both now have two under two! :) hope your future journey of you decide on a third is easy, too!

Are you breastfeeding? My cycles were long postpartum at first, but eventually shortened up to normal length. I was still breastfeeding and had the odd long cycle here and there though. I think it's pretty normal for them to be a little whacky at first, especially if you're still nursing

I'm not even thinking of TTC right now, but I just got AF after a 44 day cycle. I have never had a cycle this long before. This is my third period PP. My first two cycles were pretty much 30 days exactly, which was nice... whoah! normal!. I've always had 33-34 days and it was one of the reasons I was diagnosed with PCOS. But then this 44 day cycle worries me...

It makes me think of all of the stories of people having IF and then getting pregnant and hearing stories of their body resetting and then getting pregnant without any difficulties.

I know this is just a fleeting idea of the prospect ahead. Oh, we are definitely not even considering TTC right now with the twins being 5 months. I still go back and forth about having a 3rd but I don't think we will actually decide if we want a 3rd until probably a year from now. I guess I won't find out if I'm fertile until we start TTC.

But here I am having those infertile thoughts and wondering if we have an easy or hard road. Though, I do have some frozen embryos from our IVF cycle so we do have a back up plan that might work.

Anyone with IF in the past thinking about this already?

ETA: I'll guess I'll put my worrying aside. It could just be a fluke of a cycle. I'll try not to worry myself unnecessarily.
