It's at an all time high right now for me too. I don't remember it being this bad with my first, it is coming out in clumps right now. With #1 it was done by about 8 months (much less of it around 6 months).

Nope :( bangs can help hide the receding hairline, but it does grow back. My peak hair loss was 3-4 months pp and then it sprouted a ton of short little hairs to replace the lost ones at 5-6 months pp. It definitely loss awkward for a while though :(

Mine started at 3 & 4 months and it didnt slow down until 7-8 months PP! :-( I'm at 16 months PP and it seems to be back to normal.

My friend encapsulated her placenta for both of her births and she still had PP hair loss/shedding, etc.

Not this time, but if you plan on having another baby? I encapsulated my placenta and lost 0 hair. I think it replaces some of the hormones and makes the change more gradual, because I've heard from a lot of moms who took placenta capsules that they didn't lose any hair.

@fussygal: My pp hair loss was SO bad, but by about 6 months pp it really slowed down. Its growing back fairly well, but I had to chop it off and get bangs to make the wispy pieces look decent.

I think I finally am out of the awful shedding stage at almost 10 months postpartum. I couldn't believe how much hair I lost, and for how long!

@Lindsay05: I totally have the very horrible bang thing going too. C is 13 months so I've got a long way to go.

@MrsRoo: yeah I had a lot cut off at 5 months and I felt better. It is so annoying though.

Yuck I hate it. Mine is starting to grow back at 8 months and it looks like I very horribly tried to cut my own bang and missed by about 4 inches. :(

I thought I had a thyroid problem becauCe I lost so much hair. Everywhere that is. Though could be from the breastfeeding hormones. It eventually calms down but can be really odd for a while.

I did the mom chop! I have fine hair to begin with, so losing it was awful. Once I cut it, my hair felt thicker and healthier so it made the mass amounts that I was losing a little more bearable.

I also just let it happen. It's almost worse when it starts growing back in b/c you'll have these weird short spikey hairs sticking up all over the place. My daughter is 2.5 years old now, and the regrowth has just finally finished filling back in. I'm thinking about getting pregnant again soon, and one of the things that makes me want to cry is that I'll have to go through the cycle of losing my hair all over again!

I just let it do its thing. I did get my hair cut and one thing I wish I didn't do, and won't do the next time, is have them "thin" out my hair during the cut. I have thick hair, but combining them thinning it out AND me losing my hair made me feel like I truly didn't have any hair left!

I'm dealing with it, too. It's been so bad, I'm amazed I still have hair.

I've been really scrubbing my scalp during showers this week. I figure I could loosen up the ones about to fall and get them out while I comb out my hair. It's a little better.

It started about six weeks ago at 3.5 mo PP and is sadly getting worse :( I assume it's just one of those things I have to ride out, but curious to know if anything helped slow it down for you. I've heard tea tree/mint shampoo works well for thin hair, but I'm not sure if the hormones would just win out anyway.

Alternatively, I guess I could go in for the mom-chop
