I did however also find "Womanly Art" to be useful. You do have to read it with a critical eye, but I think we have to do that regardless of what we are reading. I did find it to be somewhat disapproving of non-bf/supplementing/formula, however, they are just recommending their ideal...I haven't read any others beginning to end, so I can't speak for them.</p> <p>Great thing about it is that it has great solutions for common breastfeeding problems. I plan to breastfeed, but I know that some people have trouble with it. The best book for me would explain the mechanics, suggest techniques that might facilitate success, and outline some common problems (and solutions!) so that I am able to recognize them if things don't go smoothly. I understand that breast milk has benefits, but if I run into too many challenges and need to supplement then I don't want a book that will instill some weird unproductive crunchy guilt. I also don't want to be told how I should feel about breastfeeding.</p> <p>So, what's a good, pragmatic book for a first time mom that wants to give this the old college try?</p> <p>I listed some common titles, but if you have another one to recommend please list it below and I will add it to the poll.</p> <p>Thanks! </p>
