It makes me so sad to feel like nowhere is really ever safe. We live in a nice development with a park in the center of it and in the summer you see tons and tons of kids running around to each others houses, playing in yards, and at the park by themselves. DH and I always keep an eye out in our neighborhood when we are out with J. I hadn't heard what happened until you posted this. It's just sickening. The fact that she was taken two blocks from her own home really drives home the point that you can't be too vigilant. It makes me never want to let my kids out of my sight, but I know that's not realistic either. Ughh...Her poor family.</p> <p>I will say I think there are a couple of amazing things about this story. The fact that witnesses were chasing after the truck on foot and by car--that restores some of my faith in humanity. It also sounds like law enforcement acted quickly and efficiently. DH and I were watching a basketball game the other night when our phones started going crazy with an Amber Alert (apparently that's a new system, amazing if you ask me!). This girl was kidnapped and murdered by a man who works in her school district. </p> <p>This happened is Missouri, much too close to home for me. My heart aches for her family.
