I totally know where you're coming from. I had 2 MC's, so with this pregnancy, I just wanted something to feel different. I definitely got what I asked for and I've been dealing with M/S since 6 weeks. As much as I hated it, I felt like it gave me piece of mind. Praying for a sticky baby for you!

I've spent the last two weeks wishing for morning sickness and fretting to my husband about not feeling any typical symptoms. Then last night, I gagged myself brushing my teeth and vomited. And it was kind of awful. So of course, now I'm hoping that the nausea goes away. It's a good thing my husband already knew I was completely neurotic when we got married...

i prayed for morning sickness after my first miscarriage (and second), so i totally understand where you're coming from. i actually did have a lot of morning sickness up through 14 weeks with both charlie and olive, and as miserable as it was, it did make me feel like the pregnancy was going along well so i was fine with it.

that being said i have many friends that had absolutely no morning sickness so the absence of morning sickness isn't necessarily an indicator the pregnancy is progressing. still i totally understand where you're coming from because most pregnant women do experience morning sickness.

easier said than done, i know, but try not to worry! :-)

No it's not crazy. Not having any MS sometimes make you doubt if you are really pregnant. But honestly.... not having MS is also awesome! ;) Don't stress too much.

@MaisyMay: I didn't mention above, but I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy. When I got pregnant this time, I wanted to get sick and I was convinced the pregnancy would end badly. Try not to worry too much - I know it's tough. I spent a lot of my first trimester worrying, and it was all for nothing!

@MaisyMay: I don't think it's crazy at all.

I was fortunate enough not to have m/s ( I'm only 14 weeks now, so maybe still a slim chance, but doubtful)

But I was so worried something was wrong because I was just tired, I didn't have that reassuring (albeit very unpleasant) physical symtom, especially since it seems like every single pregnant person had it (exaggeration, but u know what I mean). Plus my mom was very sick with both of us... And i tend to get nauseous easily, I usually even get queasy when i ovulate!

But, as it turned out we seem to be doing great, so I guess in the end not everyone gets it! And some of my friends were really sick with one baby, and not at all with another.

Hoping everything works out! Maybe this is a good sign!!

Here's hoping you start worshiping the toilet soon, so you get some peace of mind ;) Amazing the crappy things we go through for these little babies, every bit of discomfort is so worth it! Hang in there and think happy thoughts of your growing baby.

I thought of it like a marathon- it takes some discomfort to prepare for the real race. Throwing up every morning was part of the training :)

For those who understand/sympathize, I really appreciate your support. Last summer we lost our baby when it stopped growing at 6w3d, but we didn't actually miscarrying until nearly 8 1/2 weeks. Even though it is to early for MS, it'll provide some peace of mind that things are going the way that they are supposed to. @mrbee: I appreciate you telling me about Bee's experience.

I've heard a lot of people wish for this, but personally I wouldn't. I was absolutely miserable for 9 weeks (especially in the later weeks) and felt like it would never end. I still will probably have another child or two based on our current plans but the idea of morning sickness again is scary for me...even moreso than labor in a few months!

I haven't been praying for sickness since I didn't get very sick my first time around. I have taken a couple of strip pregnancy tests since getting my BFP. I took one yesterday and was happy when both lines appeared immediately adn were super dark!

@mrbee: Because I am sympathetic to the morning-sickness-can-bring-peace-of-mind point. I'm prone to insufficient progesterone production to begin with and have had 2-3 chemical pregnancies, so having morning sickness reassured me that I'm actually producing enough hormones. However, morning sickness does not assure a healthy pregnancy, and a lack of morning sickness is no cause for alarm. The OP needs to hear that morning sickness is NOT essential for a healthy pregnancy. Most of my friends/relatives pregnancies have been mostly morning-sickness free, and only one out of dozen or so morning sickness free pregnancies ended in a miscarriage - and that was BEFORE 6 weeks when MS tends to kick in.

I went through a similar conflict. I loathe vomitting, but felt like if I was sick it would be a good sign that everything with my pregnancy was okay. I never vomitted as I took anti-nausea meds as soon as the unsettled stomach hit (after my first dr visit). I ended up with a very healthy LO and was very blessed with a relatively easy pregnancy. I hope the same for you.

After I miscarried I still had MS, it was a missed miscarriage so my body was still screwed up from having my LO still in my belly. So when I was pregnant again, nothing made me feel better!

Wishing you a healthy pregnancy!

I didn't have any morning sickness at all, I was nervous between appointments, especially in the early weeks.

I had prepared myself for the worst WRT to being sick, but thankfully, nothing of the sort happened and I have a healthy 16 month old. I found I was most at peace when my mind was occupied, so I worked A LOT in the first trimester. Nothing strenuous, but def. more than normal.

Good luck to you!

@MaisyMay: I know the feeling for sure! Earlier in my pregnancy I was really hoping to feel some nausea to indicate that things were hopefully going well in there. But I will admit that today in particular I'm regretting that because I feel like total poo! Sometimes being pregnant is just so stressful. On the days that I feel like crap I wonder if it will ever end. And on the days I feel good I worry that something's wrong with the baby. I'm sure it will all be worth it when we have our little babies here!!

I hoped for m/s my whole first trimester. I never had any and thought I had some other symptoms, never had any m/s and had maybe 2 afternoons where I felt "off." Lo and behold, all of the worry was for nothing....have a healthy baby boy due in 5 weeks : ) My mom, grandma, and sister never had m/s. But, many women just don't have it. In fact, none of my friends really had m/s, either. I think because of boards/blogging people thing m/s is even more common than it is.

@mrbee: lol As I said, I understand where she's coming from. It was very comforting for a week or so, and I worried on the 2 days I DIDN'T puke. But water makes me puke. Tea, soda, milk, juice, and decaf coffee make me puke. I'm kind of focused on not dehydrating and keeping down enough vitamins and minerals (I'm chubby enough that I'm REALLY not worried about keeping down calories.)

Speaking as a current morning sickness zombie... don't do that. My mom got through 2 pregnancies without any, and MIL got through 4 out of 5 pregnancies without it too. I'm also dead scared I'm having twins (my tummy is already bigger than usual at 8 weeks, and nasty morning sickness sometimes a sign of multiples.) I understand where you're coming from, I do. But I wouldn't wish for morning sickness - the "eat, puke, sleep" mode of living gets REALLY old after 2 weeks.

I know the feeling... I remember wishing for morning sickness during the early days of my pregnancy, so I could really "feel" pregnant. Well, I ended up being one of those women who had nausea every single day of my pregnancy from 5 weeks onwards, and I have regretted wishing for it every day since then. Morning sickness sucks. It's so hard to have faith in the health of your pregnancy, but really there are plenty of women who never experience morning sickness and go on to carry beautiful healthy babies.

lol, i have seen (on WB), several pregnant ladies wish for this. so you are not alone!!

personally though i was wishing for no sickness and i was thrilled that i didn't have any! I guess since we know it happens to only 75% of pregnant women, why not wish or be happy to be in the 25% that don't get it? I would never wish to vomit - i hate vomiting!! And i don't think it means anything about how your pregnancy is going.

As funny as this sounds, I am praying for morning sickness. When I got pregnant last year, I had MS once before we miscarried and I just feel that if I have morning sickness it will mean that I am less likely to miscarry again.
Is this crazy or am I not alone?
