If they dropped a TON, I would need general anesthesia, which I am not game for! I mean obviously whatever it takes, but I really want to be awake for the birth! Bah. My blood was also taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach so it also could have been a bit off for that reason. We'll see. Oy!! Sorry you are dealing with this, but i guess its a good thing they know about it in advance and will be able to address it and make the c-section safe. This sounds pretty exactly what I had my first pregnancy - I just went back to check my numbers to confirm, and I had low red blood cell count with a high distribution percent, low hemoglobin &amp; hematocrit, and dropping platelets. They ended up diagnosing me with anemia and scheduled me for an iron infusion, as well as pregnancy-induced thrombocytopenia (unexplainably dropping platelets.) I ended up being induced early, because they were afraid of bleeding problems during birth. I am having a c-section next week and my bloodwork just came back all messed up:<br /> red blood cell distribution width is high, platelet count is low, mean platelet volume is high, hemoglobin and hematocrit are a bit low, and RBC count is a bit low. WTF! I take iron supplements and a daily vitamin. :( What do I do? Anyone else have this? Now I'm freaking out about the safety of the c-section. :crying: </p>
